Adored Todd Rundgren since the 80's (Hermit of Mink Hollow especially) and thought Liars was a fabulous "comeback" - as innovative and original as ever yet drawing on influences as ever. So underrated - difficult to believe the low rating when set against the scores of some of the transient stuff on RP. A wizard, A true star!

I really don't know much about Todd or his music. I do know that people who like him, LOVE him--or at least that's the way it was back in the 80s. From the outside, it seemed a bit like a cult. In a good, happy way. 

Yeah, this definitely doesn't sound like the Todd I know. Props to him for stretching, even if the album disappointed some of the faithful. On first listen, I give this a cautious 7.

Wow - every once-in-awhile RP freezes up on my computer and stuff in my iTunes library will start to play automatically - which contains a LOT of Todd.

Thought that's what happened in this instance...

I personally love Liars - as someone posted earlier, the songs are better live with a full band but I guess it is very easy and inexpensive for Todd to do everything now with technology being the way it is.

I've read how in times past when he was, say, laying in the drum track, if he messed up he'd have to get up from the drum kit, run back into the control room, back the tape up, go back out and start over.

Is Lairs as good as Something/Anything or AWATS? Of course not, those are two of the greatest rock albums of all time.

Been a fan for a loooong time. Tons of great songs in his back catalog and lots of stuff that would fit in nicely here on RP.

Two best songs on this release are The "Wondering" and "Soul Brother". Excellent topical lyrics and GREAT live or studio. "Soul Brother" borrows a jazzy Horace Silver Riff and the "Wondering" explores the afterlife, or all that may be, after leaving this world... Very contemporary sound without the techno. Just wondering if anyone picks up on these as they stand up next to any of the Utopia stuff and can hold a candle to S/A? or Wizard a True Star.

It's Ok, but with all of the GREAT old Utopia and Solo stuff he has, why bother with this. At least it's not Bang the drum, his worst song ever or the overplayed 1 Nazz hit. Do a little work here RP and stay away from the overplayed TR singles.

I like it.

The future sounds oddly dated and anachronistic. This is total fluff from a venerated veteran.

I sorely regret getting on the "RP Needs Rundgren" bandwagon. There's some Utopia I'd like to hear again but don't consider that a call for someone to upload any. I think I might be mis-remembering it all. Maybe none of TR is any good.

Wow...this is Todd Rundgren? Can't believe he's gone electro but this song kicks major butt!

Saw the "Liars" show in Cleveland on 04/16/04. The songs are better in person than on the CD - owing, no doubt, to the talented backup band (Kasim Sulton, Jesse Gress, Prairie Prince and John Ferenzik). With TR there is always one constant - that you will never hear/get what you expect. And while I am a fan of the older TR/Utopia fare, the new stuff will grow on you.

Ok, I'll say this again. I was a big Todd freak back in the day. He is a phenomenal artist, but this foray into technoworld is not really representative . . . or good. Please play anything from A Wizard A True Star or Something, Anything. Or from the Utopia albums. RP is playing the wrong Todd stuff.
