Could you be loved, and be loved?
Could you be loved, and be loved?
Don't let them fool ya,
Or even try to school ya! Oh, no!
We've got a mind of our own,
So go to hell if what you're thinking is not right!
Love would never leave us alone,
Ay-in the darkness there must come out to light.
Could you be loved, and be loved?
Could you be loved, wo now! - and be loved?
(The road of life is rocky and you may stumble too,
So while you point your fingers someone else is judging you)
Love your brother, man!
(Could you be - could you be - could you be loved?
Could you be - could you be loved?
Could you be - could you be - could you be loved?
Could you be - could you be loved?)
Don't let them change ya, oh!
Or even rearrange ya! Oh, no!
We've got a life to live.
They say: only - only -
Only the fittest of the fittest shall survive -
Stay alive! Eh!
Could you be loved, and be loved?
Could you be loved, wo now! - and be loved?
(You ain't gonna miss your water until your well runs dry;
No matter how you treat him, the man will never be satisfied.)
Say something! (Could you be - could you be - could you be loved?
Could you be - could you be loved?)
Say something! Say something!
(Could you be - could you be - could you be loved?)
Say something! (Could you be - could you be loved?)

Say something! Say something! Reggae, reggae!
Say something! rasta, rasta!

Not a big reggae fan, but this song swings!

I love that percussion intrument: this cuica, or "friction drum" is a Brazilian instrument. There is a similar instrument in traditional music in the Netherlands, called "de foekepot"; it's made of a pig's bladder.

Had to give this a 10. I had open heart surgery 4 years ago and, facing the possibility of not being around, I wrote my will and planned my whole funeral. I plan on "leaving" with this playing.

Absolutely my favorite Marley song. (Three Little Birds comes close, though.) The bass line just pulls you along.
All-cylinders-firing good music.

if there was an 11 rating that you could only assign to your top five rated songs, this would be the first to make the cut. 10/10 does not do it justice.

This was as high as Reggae ever musically reached, IMO. It has unquestionably stood the test of time. If you don't agree, sit back with a smooth head and listen with a great pair of Bose in your favorite corner of the world and try again. You're welcome.
Can Bob really be rated on a scale of 1-10? Talk amongst yourselves...

New Years Eve, another year gone by and another year to love Bob Marley. 10
Another year to say,
" Thank You Radio Paradise for the best programming on the planet".
Rolling along with Mr Marley.
Welcome to Carnival Cruise Lines. Enjoy the 6 daily all you can eat buffets, the day drinking, the NoroVirus and Bob Marley

Crystal clear memory of where I was the first time I heard this.
Long time ago. Cruising over the 520 Bridge in Seattle. Tan BMW 2002 (with the round tail lights of course!). Subwoofer in the back as big as '70s home speaker. I FREAKED and played it over...and over... I likes me some throbbing bass and meaningful lyrics!

the sound of love supreme : )
I feel like I could be loved
Really like this version...cool! He was a visionary for sure.
Damn. Passed at 36. May '81. RIP Robert.
Like so many artists - would have loved to see him and the band keep making such incredible music.

the one song of Bob Marley that I can listen till the end without feeling the irrepressible need to switch the radio off ! That one has a tiny little bit more energy than the other I guess...
This song has been played so often, it is dead.
The last great Bob Marley song to be released WHILE HE WAS STILL AROUND TO HEAR IT!
"Three Little Birds" next, please?

I watched the new documentary 'Marley' yesterday. Over two hours long but worth every second for anyone even remotely interested in reggae.
While it was more centered on his life rather than the music, it shows a glimpse into why Bob was such a phenomenon and why he is still being played all over the world.
RIP Bob.

Guitar World has a great interview with Junior Marvin about Marley and his experience with the band. Marley was extremely driven, and the way the music was developed is very interesting. I learned quite a bit.
