The loneliness at times
I can feel it open wide
I can wander through the past
And believe it for a while

We were younger
Oh the way you turned my head, ooooh

The things we used to have
Are fading all too fast
Like a castle in the sand
Well some things they're meant to last

We were younger
Oh the way you turned my head, ooooh

I wonder if I'd care
If I saw you again
Would you hurt me like before
Or would happiness be there

We were younger
Oh the way you turned my head, ooooh

This song was playing on RP when I accidentally had two browser windows open, and one had a delay of about one second behind the other,- and the playback sounded spot-on like some experimental Beatles track.

I didn't event catch it for a full minute.
My favourite track of theirs is "Fin". Very John Lennonesque.

Ok, I need to reply to this 6 year old comment, because that banana dances in the perfect rythm!!

I'm hearing more than a hint of Marc Bolan in this track.
I've always loved and admired the great sound and catchy musical genius of Supergrass; their music has a familiar, eternal groove...

Sounds like John singing a Harrison song

John wrote many great songs post Beatles. Maybe you should actually listen to his L.P.s
Tinges of "Oh Yoko"
I love it.
One of the lesser known / popular Supergrass songs. Bunch a ugly bastards if I may add
I live on the road to Rouen - 182 or if you're in a hurry A150

It almost has a Lennon/ Harrison vibe.  A collaboration when neither, was trying to hit a home run.  Not a negative to Supergrass , this is an 8 all day long.

Chill. He did write "most" not "all". I would probably say, better than some of the crap John wrote post Beatles, so I kind of agree with oldsaxon.
Ok, but remember its all about the curing.......oh! wrong site......
I was gonna say, "that sounds like a low-tuned guitar," then I noticed the song title.

All the tracks I've heard from this punfully titled* album are nice. Which is a pity as the earlier Supergrass albums were far from "nice" - raw edgy quirky and a lot more fun and kickass. I've driven the highway in France through Rouen... it too is nice; safe and bland.
Low C, does that have any thing to do with Low T?

I remember that kind of ethereal, yet entirely physical 'high'....
Beautiful song - great use use of acoustic guitar and piano.
Also a great video for this song, if you happen to be interested.

Alas. . . from the 11th June 2011, Supergrass were no more. . . shame.
This album is both good and important—it does it all, and its influence continues.

I think this song is underrated. The music and lyrics build great images of nostalgia.
Sounds a lot like the beatles...which is a good thing, of course.

I keep hearing this CD, and everything on it sounds good. Maybe I should buy it, huh?
This evocates a mixture between Lennon and Harrison, somehow (that voice)

Hey, it's Bob Seger's "Fire Lake"..with different lyrics—-and sung by John Lennon!
crapy song
They have a new album out. It's much more rockin than Road to Rouen. I like it a lot more. Reminds me of their older material.

Life forms all have influences. This is really enjoyable music that appears to be made by people who enjoy making it. I thank RP for exposing me to this band and this album.

I really enjoy this album, another RP enlightenment! They obviously take influence from The Beatles, as well as many other places. Completely agree. The first time I listened to them, I thought The Beatles meet Pink Floyd

What's so wrong with wanting to aspire to greatness? children wish to be like their role models artists wish to be like the masters musicians wish to be like the greats and on and on... sounding like the Beatles is a great compliment as far as I can tell...if you're into the Beatles sound. sounding like Otis Redding, or Marvin Gay, or Brian Wilson, or John Mayall, or Herbie Hancock, or Wynton Marsalis, or Charles Mingus, or John Coltrane... painting like Monet, or Klimt, or Kandinsky, or Van Dyke, or Rothko... playing like Tiger, or Ripken, or Unitas, or Pele... living like MLK, or Ghandi, or Ben Franklin, or Carnegie, or whatever diety you choose for that matter writing like RW Emerson, or PD Eastman, or Frost, or, Samuel Clemens... and on and on...you get my point. whatever you aspire to or believe in, right? isn't this how we define greatness to some degree? if no one ever grooved on the work of those we collectively consider great...wouldn't those supposed "greats" just have been masturbating all along? i would guess that one could only hope to someday be referred to as "sounds like, or writes like, or lives like, or plays like **insert supposed greatness here**"...what a statement of high regard...assuming you're not a gimmicky, no-talent hack of course.

Totally bland.
God, everytime I hear this I think its a young Lennon.
Is it Supergrass or rather Supertramp...?
I think the backing female vocals are processed through a Leslie Speaker (or a Leslie simulator).
I just bought this album after hearing a couple of tunes here on RP. The whole album is great, except I don't really see how the song "Coffee In The Pot" belongs on the album. It's growing on me, but I don't get that song.
Huh. Sounds like a lost Beatles/Lennon track again...must be Supergrass.

One of the few major uk bands of the indie/britpop generation that have truly stood the test of time. A tribute to their ability to evolve musically from those early times. A far cry from the early days but a damn good far cry!
I think Supergrass is just... super!

For a current band, these guys sure capture the retro spirit effectively. They sound like something we should have heard on the late night Bleaker Street radio show...Did anybody else used to listen to that in the late 60s, early 70s?
