If you're no one till someone loves you
Then you're two people, maybe more
'Cause it's not just how much I love you
It's how much of you I adore

I came into this world without you
I'm going out the way I came in
And in this life if I can not have you
Let the roadrunner chase begin

I walked these streets before I even knew your name
And since you've been with me they'll never look the same

I was born without you
I was born without you
I was born without you
Why can't I live without you now?

It was the first day I can't remember
Or the big day that I forgot
Coming into this world of wonder
All I know is it hurt a lot
Now if that's what it takes to meet you
That's as much pain as I'll allow
If I got through the worst without you
Why the hell can't I do it now?

I walked these streets before I ever knew your name
And since you've been with me they'll never look the same

I was born without you
I was born without you
I was born without you
Why can't I live without you now?

Good thing your perspective isn't the only one that matters. *phew*

Grade school lyrics.
Thought it was Poe.

Much prefer Rachel. How many times can someone say "Born without you" in a song. Enough already.

Wait, what?!?

Like disappearing back through the hole in the CD.

Wow! x3

"I came into this world without you

Wait, what?!?
...all the people stared as if we were both quite insane, some day my name and her's are going to be the same...

No surprise I like this song when I love the song Bus Stop (Busstop?) so much.
I thought it was Poe at first.  Like it.
i like it.

Well, it certainly reminds me of

"You Know My Name" by Chris Cornell - from the James Bond movie Casino Royale:

Is this song picking up the tricky hip sexy baton from the late Kirsty MacColl? Well done, nice arrangement.

Oh Mother Mother
what a great song

How have I not given this one an excellent rating yet? I've been rocking it on my iPod for months now...

Woah. I had to check quickly to see if there was some new Jonatha Brooke album I hadn't heard about yet... Ms. Bonham sounds a LOT like her. Thanks, RP!

I surely second that, though to live by them, is something entirely different!

Tracy just doesn't do it for me...been hearing her since the mid 90's, and just can't dig it. I did see her open for The Blue Man Group a few years ago. She DOES put on a good show. I just don't vibe with her music.
I saw her open for Blue Man also, and I thought she rocked the place pretty hard. The venue was really too big for her (and Blue Man), but she gutted it out with a lot of energy. c.
Sorta sounds like the singer from Garbage, threw me off for a second
I thought this was Pink
hmm... I thought Poe too...

Annoying.

Ok, I get it! You were born without me! Sorry, I just I hate "repeaters"-by anyone. Not that I'm any lyricist at all. But when a song says something over and over and over... it shows complete lack of originality. All I can think is, there's 4 or so minutes of my life I'll never get back.
Little wing! imagine finding you here! Well, not only are your arguing skills deficent elsewhere, but your ideas about music show that, like politics, you know shit about music. Try Fleetwood Mac: A lot of their success comes from keeping it simple. A simple idea endlessly repeated to haunting sound......................ah, music. It is the clever shit put to music that often is too clever and ends up as, well.......shit. Look at Moby: keep it simple; repeat endlessly. Music.
Pretty good, but I even better like the fact that it makes me think of Ozzy growling, "I was born withoutcha baby, but my feelings were a little bit too strong...Just a little bit too strong," in that Black Sab classic, "The Warning." Dig it out and dig it, y'all!

Yeah, I think I used to like this before Pink came along. Its ruined now that it brings her to mind.
whoa. how much schmaltz can you fit into one song?
I really like this one. The MM-MMs really get to me, in a good way.
i`m waitning for the next one... boring......

I hope you never play this song again--boring, repetitious. Save me!
Tracy Bonham... Moby Dick!

This is played too often, so it is going down to a 7. If I hear it tomorrow, it will only be a 6. I know, that rating this way is not about the music, but at least shows that the worst thing you can do to a good song, is play it too much.
Like it. Bought it.
I'm hearing an interesting little riff taken from an older (pre-gwyneth-mojo-killing) Coldplay song... maybe Shiver?
This is slowly growing on me. Still a 6, but maybe a 6.7 now vs. a previous 6.2.
Reminds me of Poe. I like Poe.

who cares who she sounds like or ripped off! its horrible crap!

That's it! Thank you for saving me hours and hours of racking my brain.
I've heard this a few times on RP now...i think i like the messgae better than the delivery.
Here`s a trivium for y'all: ''Bonham'' is likely a derivation of the French name ''bonhomme'' or ''good man.''
OK, so, this ISN'T Liz Phair??
Sounds a bit like Tracy Bonham to me. Actually I hear a little Garbage and Cranberries, but don't care, I like the song.
now what was the name of that song ?

it's funny how people keep writing about how she's ripping off all these other artists that came AFTER her!
I'm not sure I see your point. How is it impossible to rip off an artist late in your career? Madonna certainly didn't sound just like Nicola Hitchcock until she became enamored with Mandalay, and that was years after Madonna became famous. I don't recall ever hearing Tracy Bonham sound like Poe before, but the resemblance was so striking here that when I heard it, I was suddenly very concerned that Poe was losing her edge.
Every morning now I'd see her waiting at the stop...

Sounds like a POE rip-off to me.
Strangely enough, at times the guitar and strings remind me of Cake. That with Bonham's vocalizations make for a rather odd listen. 7.

yeah..sure sounds like Poe...a direct rip of "control"
The lyrics in the song don't make much sense in several places. But, I like the tune, and her voice is pretty good.

Erk. Just what I was thinking.
I'm hearing Pink.
Saw her open for Blue Man Group on tour a couple years ago (she also sing a couple BMG songs on "The Complex")

Me too. Their voices and inflections are really similar.
Magnus wrote:

Nope,me too - which isn't a bad thing by the way.
Sounds a bit like Shirley Manson...not too bad.
Am I the only one that hears Poe?
Love the irony in the lyrics here....nice!
For a second there, I was sure she was sayin' "I was blond without you" (not a bad metaphor, tho'...)
Bus Stop? The Hollies 1966. Chorus anyway, reminds us of it.
AHHHHHhhhhh..... Finally caught it! Diggin' the depths of her voice (and heights) mmmmmMother Mother...
this is bad.
On this song, her voice sounds a lot like this: https://www.radioparadise.com/content.php?name=songinfo&song_id=34470 Not a good thing.
I was listening without you ... why the hell can't I do it now?
She could do a great Shirley Bassey cover if she chose to.

NO
OH MAN!!!! Wouldn't ya just know it that I turned down the volume for the FIRST TIME here because of the Mushtaq Rap song and this one I requested comes up when I'm not listening. MERD! Oh well...I have this amazing CD at home. How often have we (collectively) missed out on the perfect mate or subtle wink or whatever because we weren't paying atention for an instant? Or in this case a song's length

I don't know, but searching on "is tracy bonham related to john bonham" yielded this: Scholarly articles for is tracy bonham related to john bonham A Conceptual Model of Strategy Formation - by Litschert - 8 citations Copper status of muskoxen: A comparison of wild and ... - by Barboza - 3 citations I'm very tempted to read the copper status of muskoxen. I'm sure it will give me real insight into Ms Bonham's work.

unlikely. she was born in boston in '69, and raised in eugene, oregon.
I really like Tracy Bonham, but hadn't heard anything from her since the song "Mother Mother" (which rocks, btw). Her vocals sound a bit different than they did back then, though. Sounds a bit like Poe now.
