I rolled and I tumbled, I cried the whole night long
I rolled and I tumbled, I cried the whole night long
Woke up this mornin', I must have bet my money wrong

I got troubles so hard, I can't stand the strain
I got troubles so hard, I can't stand the strain
Some young lazy slut has charmed away my brains

The landscape is glowin', gleamin' in the golden light of day
The landscape is glowin', gleamin' in the golden light of day
I ain't holdin' nothin' back now, I ain't standin' in anybody's way

Well, I did all I know just to keep you off my mind
Well, I did all I know just to keep you off my mind
Well, I paid and I paid and my sufferin' heart is always on the line

Well, I get up in the dawn and I go down and lay in the shade
I get up in the dawn and I go down and lay in the shade
I ain't nobody's house boy, I ain't nobody's well trained maid

I'm flat out spent, this woman been drivin' me to tears
I'm flat out spent, this woman she been drivin' me to tears
This woman so crazy, I swear I ain't gonna touch another one for years

Well, the warm weather's comin' and the buds are on the vine
The warm weather's comin', the buds are on the vine
Ain't nothing so depressing as trying to satisfy this woman of mine

I got up this mornin', saw the rising sun return
Well, I got up this mornin', see the rising sun return
Sooner or later, you too shall burn

The night's filled with shadows, the years are filled with early doom
The night is filled with shadows, the years are filled with early doom
I've been conjuring up all these long dead souls from their crumblin' tombs

Let's forgive each other darlin', let's go down to the greenwood glen
Let's forgive each other darlin', let's go down to the greenwood glen
Let's put our heads together now, let's put all old matters to an end

Well, I rolled and I tumbled and I cried the whole night long
Ah, I rolled and I tumbled and I cried the whole night long
I woke up this morning, I think I must be traveling wrong

It's like they actually 100% copied the guitar from Muddy Waters' version, this is sad.... Why cover a song if you're trying to make it sound exactly the same...

Since i like the original, a 4.

Nope..This was a hit for Muddy Waters back in the 50s

Great Dylan version!  {#High-five}
Compared to the Jeff Beck or Muddy Waters versions, this is so sad.

Life long Dylan fan has left the building
It's nice that Bob's finally been around long enough and has enough stature and miles on him that he can tackle these classics with some authority.

I agree completely. An 8 from me.

I like this, sounds like old Bob really gets his parts moving on this one.

I'm pretty sure he didn't write it.

5 => 2, and the longer this takes to end, the lower it will go.

Great song ... weak version ...

I agree wholeheartedly. The repetitive guitar lick got old after about the 700th time it was played, and the rest of the instrumentation and vocals also did nothing for me. I like a lot of Dylan's work, but not this piece.

I'm listening Bob!!!!!!!

love your snearing howling voice
keep it rolling bob!!!!!

The Bobster still has some innocent curiosity: He was playing in Winnipeg a few weeks ago, and he made a cab trip to Neil Young's boyhood home. He chatted with the present owner and was invited in to see the house. When he was shown Neil's room (now painted hot pink for the resident 16-year-old girl) The Bob said,''Is this where Neil listened to his music?''

Tight tune. If you don't like it, you just don't get it; but, we won't hold it against you.

Its always difficult to like Dylan. "Anoasfd oasdi Mphh hoasax." Unintelligible words, lousy voice, boring song. Too bad there's nothing lower than Sucko-Barfo.

Rollin' and Tumblin', Writhing on the floor he futilely attempted to rip off his own ears... Oh wait, there's a volume control! WHEW!
I always thought this one was from Dire Straits. I don't get Dylan's stuff either.

That's really sweet.
Still sucks large. And I'm a Dylan fan.
Bill is in a pretty hateful mood right now. First that God awful Neil Young tune, Ordinary People, and now this crap. Oh well, looks like the pledge money is going in the beer jar this month. Ha Ha Ha.
Holy crap. Please let it end!

Hey, you should have lend your ear, you and the other detractors, to Bill and how he's just put it: "....not exactly a version!" And don't forget what popular music is in the end: a constant transformation of given phrases, a personal participation in a collective creating. Essentially, that's Dylan.
Well, I just cleaned the wax out of my ears and, if anything, it sounds even worse than I remembered last time. Listen, I usually like Dylan, and it's clear the backing musicians are damned good - but the collective whole is really lame when compared to other available music, imo. Could it be this "cover/version/interpretation" gets played just because it's Dylan?

This from a gay man
I used to be able to recite virtually every Dylan song line by line. I have a bookcase dedicated to books on his Bobness. But when you consider his back catalogue, this track is not meritworthy. Like Bob, the glowing embers are fading and will soon be extinguished. It would be a shame to remember him with tracks like these...

Thanks for reviving such a welcome and relevant ghost and once such humanly manifestation of the god of WRY HUMOR! We need another one to come along about nowadays, won't you say? And Bob sure has done his part. I just love the way he just seems to get more and more humorous behind those sweet and sour blue sonic bardly tapestries he weaves so well for us as he keeps going along! Go Bob, and go Bill!
Tired.

I'm glad this legendary folk/rocker is out there having himself some fun boogyin' with his buds as he well deserves to be. Do we have to be subjected to it though?
This song is always playing!!! How often do we have to listen to it? Once is day is too much. I always thought commercial radio stations were lame for playing the same songs over and over considering the plethora of music to choose from but why does RP have to join the club?

Dylan....Can't be overplayed....every other song could be Bobby D and I'd be happy! Sometimes I feel that people commenting on here are just looking for something to whine about....
The video from Bob at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965 where he plugs in and offends the sensitive folkies is pretty funny...

I bought this album for my wife's birthday and we listened to it on the way to a really cool state park (Chimney State Park, shore of lake Ontario-highly recommended). We listened to this again this past weekend to start off our family thanksgiving trip. While there are a few gems on this album, the overall effect nearly put us asleep and off the cliff. Me thinks that place would have been better than suffering through this entire album. Bill Goldsmith, this song is WAY overplayed. Can you put on the back of the playlist for a while?
Some songs have been covered ENOUGH!! Rollin' & Tumblin' has been sung by more people than "Happy Birthday" !!! Enough already, enough!! Ok. Time for the formulation of the Second Mugro Doctrine of Covers: If you can name more than a half a dozen artists that have covered a particular song, then that song has been covered enough and new renditions are not only not necessary but should be discouraged at all costs. Excessive numbers of recordings of blues standards should be considered to be more in a category of "Muzak" than a rock & roll cover tune. Let's remember this folks: there may only be 12 notes, but there are more than 12 songs. Let's try to be original!!
That was great!
Wutchmcguuda Dang ol' Boomhauer
Dylan singing the blues... still an amazing combination of lyrics, musicianship, and yes, even vocals. They fit the song perfectly. -TU
Please play something else from this album and not the Levee song!!!!
From the Sublime (Muddy Waters) to the Ridiculous (Dylan when he should have retired many years ago remaking a R.Johnson classic)

Can we please play another album by Dylan? I think we are in a rut.
Saw the Bobster last night in Ottawa, capital of Canada. Of course he stayed behind the keyboards (potted way down so that it didn't matter whether he played or not), had limited vocal range, forgot some lyrics and changed others, said nothing to the audience except to intro his band, and had a hangdog expression throughout--but, hey, IT WAS BOB AND IT WAS WONDERFUL!

Seems like we've been hearing this one A LOT lately.
I've liked everything I've heard off this album - time to make a purchase. I've also come to the conclusion that I enjoy Bob's singing voice more now than early Dylan. More texture, less whine.
