The stars conspired to bring me here, on a day like this;
The sun beats down upon my pride, like a wounded star.

What did you want from me?
Why did you bring me here?
I'm facing my foolish fate, oh
I'm too high, too close to the sun;
I'm too high, my curious Icarus wings melt from my skin.

Don't stand, don't stand so close to me,
I'll bring you down,
But I'll fly, oh I'll fly beneath the sun
Watch me burn, oh, watch me burn.

What did you want from me?
Why did you bring me here?
I'm facing my foolish fate, oh
I'm too high, too close to the sun;
I'm too high, my curious Icarus wings melt from my skin.

Oh, I'm too high, too close to the sun;
Too high, my curious Icarus wings melt from my skin.

I'm too high...
I'm too high...
I'm too high...
I'm too high...

Oh, I'm too high...
I'm too high...
I'm too high...
I'm too high...

No, no, no, no, no...

He's a lot better than Coldplay.
Jeffcoldbuckplay?
sure, channeling all those cats that others have mentioned. Points for effort, good strong tune. Don't get the hate
I saw Tom Baxter opening for his younger brother Charlie Winston. Great performance just with his acoustic guitar. High energy. Interesting fact is that it used to be Charlie opening for Tom when they were younger

A lot of him I would say

"Exactly" ?  No, not really.

Reminds me more of Tubular Bells... on guitar

A tad overwrought.

Sure. I hear Dave Matthews as well
Yuk.
Full of awe - as in aw-ful

unbearable kitsch. way too much sugar in this -  music to loose your teeth ...

What I was thinking, too.

At first I heard Coldplay.  I don't know who or what I hear now. But the track got better about 60 seconds ago.
hi there im double checking if its this song that appealed to me was it country with some ooohoooos? i loved it
I initially thought it was Coldplay trying to sound like Elbow.
A little bit of Jeff Buckley in here

Got love the human air-rad siren and Eddie the 50-foot mechanical monster!

Sorta, but not as good. . .

HELL yes!

I was wavering as to whether or not I liked this, and then remembered that I don't hesitate to admit loving Bat Out of Hell, so I obviously have a weakness for overblown melodrama, ergo I must like this.  So I do.  What the hell, who needs cred anyway.

mmmm, long spacey ending... very copasetic
About as deep as the shallow end of the local kiddie pool.
reminds me of a great Iron Maiden song. :D
I play my radioparadise very quietly at work.  This song always grabbed my attention, and I'd turn it up as loud as I dared.  It seems I never hear it any more, and I miss it.
Aw quit your bitch-in.  It's not a bad song.  Far better than Neil Young, which I thought RP played way too much.  Baxter can actually hold a tune...not quite as good as Buckley, but good nonetheless.

K
If he's trying to be Jeff Buckley, he ain't there
meh.  save the drama for your mama.
I agree. Sending positive energy to balance all those crappy comments!{#Meditate}{#Roflol}

Top 40 be damned!!!  If I wanted top 40 I'd be listening to "The Star 93.3, Peterborough's best new music".  I'm not.

There are two types of 'good' songs for me.  Those that start off good and then lose their hold on me, and those that I have to work my way into, and become old friends.  The Tom Baxter songs have been a bit of a problem for me, as the ones I've heard don't follow either rule.  All three songs I've heard have knocked my socks off from the get go, and have kept sucking me further in the more times I've heard them, which has been pretty often, even for RP.

I reckon the only cure is to buy the album, and play it until either the CD or I wear out...

P.S.  Top 40 just means popular, not good, IMO.

I like the melancholy and the minor key. And the spanish-y flamenco-ish stuff.

or the other way around

don't know what I think

interesting music, but drama is the word

Yeah, the playlist is a mess. Right now Jesse Sykes is on but it says "Now playing: Apocalyptica-Drive". It's been like that for an hour or so. Next up is Richard Shindell.......?

I thought it was Elbow until Bill said it was Tom Baxter. I liked it, especially the Exorcist/Tubular Bells-ish ending.
This is cool. Earlier today RP played Coldplay and there were many comments posted about Tom Baxter. I didn't quite get it. Now I get it. Yes, Tom Baxter kicks Coldplay butt any day.

I think he may be referring to the back-up singer.
I like this song after the beat kicks in. Before that, it's unremarkable.

Sounds good. This has the potential to grow on me...
Sounds good now but fear it could wear thin. Hope not!
three new songs from Baxter this week...looks like Bill found a new favorite good stuff.

This is really nice.
Nice! play this again, please!!!
