Knock loud, I'm home
Just sleeping to pass the time
Wondering if you'll come by to visit me
Ten years have passed
Since you walked out of my life
But late last night in the pharmacy
You were in the line in front of me
So I ran away to hide
Knock loud I'm home
I wrote in black felt pen
Took that sign and taped it to the door
If you come in
To see how I have been
Make sure the door is closed behind you
Stand above me
While I poised do plunge
Through my heart attack
Kills the worst of me
Said I was sorry
Drink to forget
I wake up alone
Knock loud I'm home
Just sleeping to pass the time
Wondering if you'll come by to visit me
Ten years have passed
Since you walked out of my life
But late last night in the pharmacy
You were in the line in front of me
So I ran away to hide
Knock loud I'm home

If you come in
To see how I have been
Make sure the door is closed behind you
Stand above me

Kills the worst of me
Said I was sorry
Drink to forget
I wake up alone
Knock loud I'm home

My Crush would be considered a terrible Crush on Neko.... She could sing the ingreadients off a soup can and make it sound wonderful .

Hadn't heard this before, so was hoping for a new album. Seems like a lot of us have a crush on Neko.

I could forgive her the voice but musically I think she simply doesn't evolve
Much as I try.. I just have to switch over / turn down as soon as I hear her voice... I know most folks here love her but I just cannot, cannot get along with her voice - it grates me... sorry but each to their own & I appreciate everyone has different tastes!!!

I think Romeo overslept, too much partying in his hotel room. In any event, over my way I like R.E.M. and Neko Case back to back.
She rocks me..
Great to hear some older Neko and appreciate how much she's developed over the years.

...i appreciate hearing vintage neko!..
Good stuff. This needs to get more rotation.

Neko Case seems to have a thing about foxes - maybe it's her "totem animal" - her being a redhead, independent and all. Her Fox Confessor album deals a bit with this too.
I like the song, and the whole 'live off the kitchen floor' sound, but what's up with the album cover? I get the roadkill on the left, but what's that on the right hand side? And why the roadkill? I'd understand if the album was called Canadian Highway...
Edit: OK, I tilted my head and got the pic on the right. Fits in with my Canadian Highway idea.

Definitely. Although, I do dig the guitar on this on.
This is good but I think I prefer the live version off the Live from Austin, TX - the live recording of her appearance on Austin City Limits.

Damn, Bill! The amazing run (imho) continues!

LOL Say what you will 'bout her audio engineer's penchant for bathroom acoustics but IMO Ms. Case can do no wrong.
When the hell is she going to come to Florida? I'm ready for a show...
Could use a little more reverb.

What's that Skippy? Neko's stuck down the very deep old mine shaft?
CANADIAN AMP was recorded by Neko Case and Jon Rauhouse in Neko's kitchen in Humbolt Park in Chicago (2001). She tells us that some of the songs were recorded in her underwear. That's worth a 10 right there.

Every song of hers has these random off key notes. Drives me crazy because I'm always waiting to see if she hits the note or not.
I'm glad I've finally figured that out. Now I can safely not like her music without thinking I'm missing something.
Never played and already has a 9. Hmmm.
When she's not trying to break glass she can actually sing. But what's with the off key notes on this one? Maybe a 6.
