That was a really fine segue. The Byrd's "My Back Pages" (one of my very favorite trippy Dyalan songs) melded into Great Lake Swimmer's "Everything is Moving So Fast" so smoothly it seemed a continuation of "Back Pages". Same beat, same key, or did my head do the match when I was momentarily distracted?
The Main Mix has become my close companion lately. It's a lot more listenable (my tastes fed) than I remember it. For lack of something a fraction this good, I'd fallen into the musical doldrums and seldom switched anything on. Gotta say, I'm loving. No joke, it's improved my mood. Kudos.
I have to say that Cat Stevens and Peter Gabriel still make me reach for PSD. And as much as I like some of the foreign language tunes I don't think I'll ever enjoy songs where I don't know what's being sung (except for good scat), they make me wish I was pan-lingual. I'd settle for bi-lingual, but the UC couldn't pull it off.

We have moved beyond that these days. Come on up and have a look see. Montreal is great but if you really want to immerse yourself in the Quebecoise culture head to Quebec City. It's great. Winter or Summer.

I'm an American, and I spent a few weeks in eastern Canada, where English was not the first language - I told them I couldn't speak French, and they were awesome. I agree - I've never met a Canadian I didn't like. And I have a couple that I wish I could reconnect with, because they helped me through a very scary time. I don't sleep very much, and even when I can sleep, it's not for very long. I'm told that a fragmented sleep is detrimental to good health. Feh. I'm healthy. I'm an American, and I spent a few weeks in eastern Canada, where English was not the first language - I told them I couldn't speak French, and they were awesome. I agree - I've never met a Canadian I didn't like. And I have a couple that I wish I could reconnect with, because they helped me through a very scary time. I'd heard the stories about how Americans were idiots and the French-speaking people were haughty and not willing to help dorks like me... But I got there, and to a person, the people in Toronto and Montréal were helpful, friendly, and warm. I have NO bad to say about them. They were so cool to me, the stupid American who didn't speak French. If I had to pick a place to live other than where I am now, I think Montréal would be second. Finland or Denmark would be first, but only because I have a friend in Finland and relatives in Denmark.
And, to pull this subject back onto the music - I love this song because of the haunting vocals. This, like Fever Ray, haunts my dreams. I don't sleep very much, and even when I can sleep, it's not for very long. I'm told that a fragmented sleep is detrimental to good health. Feh. I'm healthy. Just not very articulate when it comes to posting things here...

I thought you just told us yet another stellar, little anecdote about a time in your life, spurred somehow by the music you've heard and we all are sharing here (RP). I'm a Torontonian myself, at least since '75, and I love to visit Montreal. So, it does my heart some good to hear your kind words re: my fellow Canadians, and that you found solace here when needed. All good stuff. We can never have too much of that! There are, after all, bastards lurking everywhere, most often, only if we give them reason to be.
And as for this song...never heard it before. Love it! The harmonies grabbed me. Go figure, I have to listen to an American internet radio station to discover a song by a group from my own back yard (so to speak). Gimme more, Bill!

This along with Sun Kill Moon that was just played is one of those groups that is perfectly fine in small doses, but to listen to more than 2 or 3 songs like this is DEPRESSING!
