I was walking far from home
Where the names were not burned along the wall
Saw a building high as heaven
But the door was so small, door was so small

I saw rain clouds, little babies
And a bridge that had tumbled to the ground
I saw sinners making music
And I dreamt of that sound, dreamt of that sound

I was walking far from home
But I carried your letters all the while
I saw lovers in a window
Whisper "want me like time, want me like time"

I saw sickness, blooming fruit trees
I saw blood and a bit of it was mine
I saw children in a river
But their lips were still dry, lips were still dry

I was walking far from home
And I found your face mingled in the crowd
Saw a boatful of believers
Sail off talking too loud, talking too loud

I saw sunlight on the water
Saw a bird fall like a hammer from the sky
An old woman on a speed train
She was closing her eyes, closing her eyes

I saw flowers on a hillside
And a millionaire pissing on the lawn
Saw a prisoner take a pistol
And say "join me in song, join me song"

Saw a car crash in the country
Where the prayers run like weeds along the road
I saw strangers stealing kisses
Giving only their clothes, only their clothes

Saw a white dog chase its tail
And a pair of hearts carved into a stone
I saw kindness and an angel
Crying, ''"Take me back home, take me back home"''

Saw a highway, saw an ocean
I saw widows in the temple to the law
Naked dancers in the city
And they spoke for us all, spoke for us all

I saw loaded linen tables
And a motherless colt then it was gone
I saw hungry brothers waiting
With a radio on, radio on

I was walking far from home
Where the names were not burned along the wall
Saw a wet road form a circle
And it came like a call, came like a call from the Lord

Hoo, no
Hoo, hoo

...but its a nice cover.
Oh my...what were they thinking?
Gosh, yet another song that sounds like two at once.
The most laborious lyrics ever I swear.

I'm tired now.

Yes. Horrible.
Jesus H .... what a monotonously boring song.
This song is so nicely done, makes me think of an old time tent revival preacher

Less wine more iron, please.
Sounds like two separate songs playing at the same time. Kind of annoying.
annoying.

Usually like these guys but this is grating for some reason.

I agree. I keep waiting for something to change... and it doesn't. No surprises.
This is quite the swell segue.

That doesn't look like a linoleum cut.  Judging by the amount of black, it's probably scratchboard done on multi-colored stock, or it is possibly just a computer-generated graphic.  Interesting picture, though.

crayola makes a black paper that you can submit to an "invisible" marker, that reveals the multi-colored paper backing after you draw...looks very much like that.

I thought this was Snow Patrol, and not in the good way.  {#Snooty}

Like.

Well, definitely Iron&Wine is one of Bill's all time favorites. There was at least 5 of his songs today. Like it but a little diversity would help.

I love that Iron and Wine can be versatile in this way.. Amazingly beautiful still.
Ugah... again.

Listening somewhere else ...
Best album of the year...easy!  But this is my least favorite song on it.

Ok, from looking at the lyrics, this might have some social commentary value. However, I find it repetitive, maudlin, and tiresome. Rates a 2 at best.

Meh.

Dylan nailed this theme with Hard Rain Gonna Fall. This song pales in comparison. No bridge, no chorus. Two measures repeating endlessly.
not my favorite. . .

What kind of hearing aid are you using? Maybe the the volume is set to high and it's causing feedback. Cannot figure how you can think that the two even sound similar.
I really like this. I think it's one of those songs that grows on you. That said, part of it reminds me of a song from RENT. *ducks and runs*
I think the greatest attributes of this song are the lyrics. if you don't listen to what he's saying the song does seem repetitive and dull. Listen...........................................
For me Iron and wine is nice background music. Good singer, but the music is not blowing me away or make me dance or move. Only with Calexico they are a bit more moving.
Liking this more and more every time I hear it!  Up to a 7 now.
I usually like Iron & Wine, but this just sounds like the same sing-song melody repeating over and over again. It's annoying.

I never know when it's Iron & Wine or Sufjan Stevens...

Whew, glad that's over.{#Yawn}
Just not into this group.
Less whine, more iron.
Yup - too repetitive for me.  Good lyrics but the music needs to measure up (no pun intended)
Very soothing tune. Particularly this late at night.  {#Bounce}
This song has a sort of grinding annoyance to it...
I guess you have to focus on the lyrics

I was going through my vinyl the other day to decide what I can live without (to make room for new).  It is really cool to look at all of the old album art!  When the canvas us 12x12 people seem to put more effort in.  I really like the cover of this album though.  Good cover and good music.
This is Iron & Wine?  Interesting...  I'll give it a 6 for now.

...wow - i had no idea this was sam beam!..nice to hear him continue stretching musically...

Different from him!
Love the new album.....Play more Bill
