In the light of freedoms call
In the heat of any matter
We travel as equals or not at all
Bloom disgust and class divide
I saw it written on the wall
The only way we can survive
We travel as equals or not at all
You can't be in greater comfort
As my pain prevents your fall
The truth will come and tell us brother
We travel as equals or not at all
And when we get to where we're going
Past the divide past the stall
Past the wind that's always blowing
Travel as equals or not at all
In your way, you found a way free
In your way, you found a way, follow me
Give it up, give it up
Give it up to your destiny
In your way, you found a way free
And you might have a greater income
Or you might be dumb and dull
But either way I won't leave you
Travel as equals or not at all
So help me too in my slumber
If I'm blind in madness hall
If I'm deaf amongst the thunder
Travel as equals or not at all
Lift the way forget the ransom
Free the chain and kick the ball
Let our love take us higher
Travel as equals or not at all
And down the road and through the sky
And on the tracks, hear the gull
Fly above us, without worry
Travel as equals or not at all
I hope your road takes you homeward
And may you always outrun the law
If I'm with you we will always
Travel as equals or not at all
Yes if I'm with you we will always
Travel as equals or not at all
Yes if I'm with you we will always
Travel as equals or not at all
In your way, you found a way free
In your way, you found a way, follow me
Give it up, give it up
Give it up to your destiny
In your way, you found a way free
In the dark of grave yard chatter
In the light of freedoms call
In the heat of any matter
We travel as equals or not at all
Bloom disgust and class divide
I saw it written on the wall
The only way we can survive
We travel as equals or not at all
The only way we can survive
We travel as equals or not at all
The only way we can survive
We travel as equals or not at all
Rob from always on the run is so bad and copy paste is a sin
In your way, you found a way free
In your way, you found a way, follow me
Give it up, give it up
Give it up to your destiny
In your way, you found a way free
In your way, you found a way free
In your way, you found a way free
You're sounding a bit unstable yourself, TM. Let's all take a deep breath ... and read RFK Jr's The Real Anthony Fauci. Then we'll talk.
Dead Brain Worm Kennedy is your source? That's funny.
I think it's better to travel as an Eagle if one has the chance.
What the fuck are you talking about - you sound unstable? What vaccine has killed more than the million people globally that died in the first year + of covid.
Get the fuck out of here with that bullshit.
Pretty sure you're going to be eating those words in a decade or two.

Promises much, doesn't deliver
Promises much, doesn't deliver
Promises much, doesn't deliver
Promises much, doesn't deliver

Oh my god if he sing the name of this song one more time I'm going to stick firecrackers in my ears to end the pain.
Be our guest
Yeah he's guilty of thinking for himself - can't have that can we?
Edit: When exactly was it that lefties started believing everything Big Pharma tells them? I seem to remember not long ago when people distrusted these mega-corporations.
Are you so fucking retarded that you can’t differentiate science between big pharma bad?? people can actually hold 2 thoughts at the same time magat…
Wow, in the bio he's a supposed, "contraversial", because he wrote a song about the Bio Weapon shot, he was right, it's killed more people than covid, and has sterilized a generation, but hey it's liberal and so it must be cool...

Everyone's entitled to an opinion, but it's staggering and very depressing how many nutters there are in the World.

I agree with your central point that what Joseph Arthur should have made was a blog post instead of a song.
Beauty. Eye. Beholder.
Follow?
I had a ball!
Shop at a mall.
Talk, don't call.
Hey...don't fall!
I gots lot of gall.
Look at me...I'm a song writer now!
Where's my !#^&** money?
Well we got your wish with this pandemic. Hope you're happy now!
Ditto. Yet, I still do...
Gary
Agreed - I like the video accompanying this version... https://youtu.be/ZAaNNNsdcdE
I was thinking he sounds more like Townes Van Zandt (aside from the chorus). No?

Cerebral abnormalities?
If that was the case, it would not still be in rotation. Evidence suggests otherwise. Nice to my ears.
I'm more generous, it's a bit hooky so a sort of 3-ish...enjoyable randomly way. As Farthing's cat said...I enjoy his voice

Actually, yes, but not quite; I'd just stepped outside as this one started, and I'm now listening to the spring melt drip from the eaves. Drip drip drip drip ...
Edit 23-01-2017: After a peek at the lyrics (which aren't horrible), I noticed something awry I've referenced elsewhere on the RP site (see: oops-see!).
Nah, there are many which are far worse. Here's one.
Funny that someone commented it reminded them of "People Who Died"; the Drive By Truckers" covered that at the festival. Is it that interesting musicians and listeners think alike, or just a sign of the times...?
It'll do 'til another comes along.
Not even close. And you're not listening.
I want this song to douse itself in gasoline and light a match.
Yes I'll second that, I ws away from my computer in another room and thought it was my noisy neighbours playing their Rap-Crap again, with the endless Thump-Thump-Thump but I was pleased to discover it was on RP as I could turn it off.

Is this
a) true?
b) if so why?
Sounds to me like a lot of US listeners think it is contrived.
To me it doesn't sound contrived at all, but I'm not American and maybe I'm missing the cultural nuances?
I actually quite like it.
Despite that many RP listeners whose tastes I share and opinions I respect do not appear to be of the same view with respect to this song.
Oh well.
Yeah, but this seems pretty weak and silly compared to that tune.
does remind me a bit, at the beginning, of 'Bleed it Out' - Linkin Park - is that what people don't like?

I'll catch the next elevator, thanks.
This is just relentlessly awful
The above does not suffice for this song. It is much worse.
Still, it's a great song. Life the way we live it is the bastard here, not Joseph Arthur. He's just a poser, but that's not unusual and in my view it's cool — like I said, I like the song.
I like the song ... and I like this comment even more. Reminds me of my Wall Street gig.

agreed!

Well that's pedestrian at best.
Dig what your sayin. I only complain when U2 hits the airwaves.
This one does come off as affected and self-aware, but the song does improve as it progresses past the spoken word vocals into the instrumental finish. Still, it's only a 5 or 6, IMO.
Rocket science is way over rated.
Here's a thought — and I'm just spitballing here — we could play those good songs instead of this one.
(By the way, I'm not really advocating Bill pull this from the lineup. I like that he challenges my sensibilities and forces me to experience new things. It's his playlist, and he can / should do what he sees fit. But yeah, this one is pretty much unredeemable for me. )
Agreed. This song SUX!!!! Please stop playing it. The station gets turned off every time I hear it now.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Don't mince words, man! Did you like it or not? ; )
Well, NOT AT ALL!
Wins the prize for the most platitudes in a silly pop song. Pure pap.
Compelling.
Like a moth to a bright night light, I feel drawn to this.
Ooh, I dunno - the William Shatner covers/parodies of popular songs (such as Pulp's Common People) with lots of spoken words are pretty popular on here. The spoken, rather than sung, word goes back rather a long way so I don't think it's an age thing.
Compelling.

Well said. There's something about this song that captivates me…
