Agreed. I count six. The last one comes in right near the end. Easy to miss it.
Another epic RP segue from Moby - First Cool Hive. Impossible to tell where it ends and this starts.
I'm not really sure why, but this rates a +1 for cool band name.

I used to "dial in" CBC (AM) radio on my airplane's ADF on early Sunday morning flights. I did this because they would play classical music before 6AM. These 'decompression' flights (as I called them) were over the mountain and valley forests north of Vancouver, BC. The included swooping down steep valleys and circling (in a steep gentle turn) over the forests... looking straight down in to the trees... bliss!
If this song was the soundtrack for the flights... wow.

This is the kind of music that I can imaging while traveling remote lands in, say, bycicle or on foot

This is distinctly reminiscent of the instrumental band God is an Astronaut, though with less of a dark cutting edge. Nice enough but unmemorable. The title reminds me of the Porcupine Tree track about the Heaven's Gate cult.

Trust me westslope, I often imagine I'm back there, usually during our cool/wet/grey/depressing winters in Seattle. And a lot of the new money in Montecito (vs the old money the SB area is known for, you know, the super wealthy people NOBODY knows) probably meant moving up the hills. I lived in a house near Montecito, on a curvy street in the SB area called the "Riviera" where the higher up you go the nicer the houses are, and after the Northridge earthquake I quickly thought "please don't have a mansion land on us!"
Ironic that the song we're commenting on is called: Leaving Earth.

Funny, and while I normally consider SB to be paradise, it is about 750 Km from Santa Barbara to Paradise.
And unfortunate as it is, SB has been in the news a lot lately with fires and now mud slides. A little bit of paradise lost 
As I get updates from family and see images on the news, I can't help but think "what? NO! those are the roads I learned how to drive on!"

Well, Jeff Montalvo likes Opeth and Storm Corrosion, a one-time collaboration between Opeth's frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt and Steven Wilson, formerly of Porcupine Tree.
I like Storm Corrosion and some of Opeth's material. I see the connection and Jeff's interest in this kind of Prog metal. Though I would not have reached for metal to describe the Storm Corrosion album. Some of Opeth's material is not in the death metal vein that might have popularized the band.

Jeff Montlavo has really changed his game over the years, from the pure aggressive dance electronica to what appears to be a pretty neat, ready for a documentary of Earth and climate change, track. I like seeing an artist progress, and while his art (i.e. electronica) is not my favoriate form of music, I really appreciate his progression. And he's from Santa Barbara which is cool since it's my 2nd hometown. LLRP!
