Whatever mess you find yourself within
Regardless how you got there
When the edifice has slipped away and died
And left you standing there defenseless

Love can heal
Love can heal
Love can heal
Love can heal

There's something moving out of you, your body and your skin
Like mist comes from the water
You can sense it, when the cold has clenched its claws
And, alone, you face what's coming

For a moment, I raise my head
I can breathe the air
Out in the sunlight, in all the colours
Set against a bed of green
A bed of green

Love can heal
Love can heal
Love can heal
Love can heal
Love can heal
(Give into love) Love can heal
Give into love
Give into love

Since 1972 when I heard Genesis’s “Trespass” lp for the first time aged just 14, Peter Gabriel has been my fave male vocalist. Birmingham UK May 1975 at the Hippodrome theatre for the LAMB tour was the first time I saw him. The I O tour in 2024 was the last. A constant influence.

You can thank Bill for that, I am sure :)
Saw him in Calgary in the early 90's, what a amazing blend of theatrics, dancing, and music.  Incredible performances and imagery.

I would say the exact same about the Chicago show. I feel fortunate to have gone - may be his last!  And this track has really grown on me a "9"

The more I hear this track the more I love it - even getting to enjoy the album.  Thses tracks are why I listen and support RP

Yes. Yes he does.
Bill said this truth has been demonstrated many times but can't be quantified.  And as William Cameron stated, "Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts."  And such is love.

And that was the problem for me.  I tried to figure out what he was up to with all the different versions of the same songs.  It became too complicated and incoherent for me to follow. It was more about the production process than the music itself. I guess that I will eventually give it another try, but for now I'm just not interested

Jeez, just listen to this masterpiece and enjoy it. Life is to damn short. Chill out and relax.
Damn you RP, keeping me here at the computer all afternoon when I should be getting to the gym. The playlist this sunny Sunday afternoon, the day before the solar eclispe, is riveting. I can't move! Ahhhhgh Thank youuou!!

Thank you so much Peter!  This song helps me a lot right now in difficult times I currently face.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏

Not surprising, he's 74 now. I consider it a well-ageing wine…

I had to write a review of this album, and my notes tell me that the three songs you mention, like so much of the record, are rather let down by lacklustre and pedestrian string/orchestral arrangements.  Given that Peter Gabriel is such an interesting and curious musician, I find it strange that he's working with a perfectly competent, but boring, arranger (the cello on this track illustrates my point).

Daniel Lanois has been producing records for Peter Gabriel for a long time, and, especially with albums like Us and So, he really helped Gabriel find and define his distinctive sound.  This most recent album was produced by Brian Eno, who is also, obviously, a legendary producer, but I think Lanois is simply a better fit for Peter Gabriel than Eno is.
This LP is amazing. Peter has a slew of new stuff that sounds like it could have been on Us.  Very fresh but slower, which I like as I get older. The last LP to come out was 12 years ago. Will this be his last?  Wish I saw this tour, I did see the So tour. In my all time top 5 and I have seen many.

I think the best three songs from I/O haven't (yet!) made it to the RP playlist. Hopefully,  Playing For Time, Four Kinds of Horses, and Live and Let Live will eventually be added.

Good point and recommendations.

I saw him sing this and more on his tour in 23. Many great new tracks and awesome show with a big heart.

Pretty darn quick getting this track onto RP, big thanks to William! This abum was just released 2 days ago. Sounds like Peter Gabriel has a lot of great tracks on this double album. Looking forward to hearing more.

He has still got it.

Very solid album...and saw the tour about a month ago, which was quite enjoyable!
The physical CD (I'm old school and like product - plus it supports artists better than Shitify's payment model) arrived at the weekend - on the whole, it's a pretty good record, although I can't detect much difference in the two mixes.
glad to hear I/O finally arriving! I put this one as one of the median songs on it. On the tour I think the one that hit me hardest was “This is Home” but my friend I went with is a huge jazz fan and loved “Olive Tree”
First new album in 20 odd years. Worth the wait. Also, the video for this is beautiful.

Was wondering only yesterday when this new stuff would start to trickle onto RP. Happy it's today!
