Fine gems were my main stones I'd set. This necklace is peridot set in 14k gold. No shameless plugs here, as I no longer have a bench set up, though I have no problem with techer2 seeking to promote his wife's creations.

WOW, I'm not surprised, but terribly disappointed that this has been unacknowledged. You're obviously an accomplished (and excellent) designer . . . great work!!!!

She leveraged her etsy exposure to gain a deal with Urban Outfitters, which is undoubtedly a huge boon to her pocket.

If only. She's riding a bubble. There's a multitude of talented designers who I could never compare my work to. I'm not the fatalistic type, but... arghhhh, to quote Justine's war cry of this week.

Holy crap! Her creations are priced at astronomical amounts, especially for mostly freaking acrylic. I don't mean to say that her time isn't valuable because I know how much goes into it, but I cannot imagine charging someone a hundred ninety bucks for a scarf that isn't made from the hair of a virgin yak that's been blessed by the Dalai Lama.

Quit your day job? Etsy on NYTimes

To some craft enthusiasts that is just the name of a popular blog on Etsy, the fast-growing Web site that serves as a marketplace for crafts and vintage goods.

But to Yokoo Gibran, it was an epiphany.

Ms. Gibran, who is in her 30s, had been selling her hand-knit scarves and accessories on the site for less than a year when she decided last November to quit her day job at a copy center in Atlanta. Thirteen months later, she would seem to be living the Etsy dream: running a one-woman knitwear operation, Yokoo, from her home and earning more than $140,000 a year, more than many law associates.

Now, as then, a Shaman of Lineage.

Española... I lived in Chimayo for a couple of years, back in 98-99-00. Santa Fe, as I said, much earlier. And in Alb as well, 1200 block of Candelaria. Way earlier, early 70s I lived a'horseback in the Pecos Wilderness and on up the spine of the Sangre de Cristos. I love NM. These days I reside in Sedona, Az.

But yeah, I think he gets a pass here. He's been here a few years, and admits it's a shameless plug. AND it's handmade artisan stuff. I'm okay with it. What confuses me is, there ARE threads for economic woes, right? We have plenty of places to share our triumphs and tribulations: if he'd been posting all along, it might not have seemed so spammy.

Peace,

c.
