I got a "Dude" sweater from Pendleton for $90 by visiting the site, registering, putting it in my cart and abandoning it there for about two years. They probably lowered their price 5 times in between $269 and $90 but I never bit. Not trying to game the system, just not feeling very splurgey.
At that price, I'll give you the money to buy it and then ship to me. That would be my first dude sweater

You're beginning to freak me out a bit with your shopping habits. Squash blossoms and now the Westerley sweater.
About 4 or 5 years ago, when they were going for $229 I think, Pendleton played some sort of game where they were literally changing the price daily. Down, up....down, down, down, up, up, down.... no apparent rhyme or reason. Some days it was the original... others it was the colors (they had a gray and a blue that they don't have on the site right now...the link you put wasn't available... sadly, that's a nice color). Sizes would come and go in a flash....it was a bit crazy. I was a bystander... the spouse and kids were doing the tracking.
At some point they crossed into the territory you mentioned... $80, $90, $100....and my wife purchased them for 6 or 8 people for gifts.
They tend to run a bit warm for winter in the mid-Atlantic states, but this past month that puppy's been on a lot.
Ya, that wouldn't surprise me. But I haven't come across that scenario. I'll have to try that. If it works, I owe you a beer.

I don't doubt that that's the case BUT it's also probably true that if you put something in your shopping cart and then delete it, then go to that product page again later, they sometimes give you a better price because last time still burns in their memory.
also possible, the second time was from a different, cheaper vendor.

A few years back, I was ordering a CD on Amazon and when I got to the end I realized I somehow accepted a free trial of Amazon Prime. Ok, so that gave me free shipping on the CD. But, I don't want Prime! I figured if one orders a lot on Amazon it might be worth the extra money to be an Amazon Prime member. But I don't order that much. So I deleted that order. Reordered the CD without Prime and lo and behold the cost of the CD was cheaper. Yes, I had to pay shipping but now I know how they recoup the money they lose on free shipping.
No surprise.

The hottest memes... it's fun to do these even if there are already a thousand iterations. Hard to make the joke work tho, so I went a different route.
(historians note: something about a guy saying he needed (legit) an AR-15 for when 30 to 50 feral hogs come into the yard when his kids are out there. The internet thought that was hilarious)
What a weird side gig this is. Since this meme had its day 3 years ago, I've sold 10 of these, including one just now.
