I use Airplay with absolutely no issues at all. I stream to an Apple Airport Express that is connected straight to my RME DAC. You have to ensure the Aurplay Express has the correct firmware.

Finally got switched over to ROON and using there interface for FLAC and she is pretty much rock solid. Friend was having Airplay stability issues as well. Got him switched over to running off a laptop browser tab —>USB—DAC. He has been rock solid for a week and much happy.
