I'm not familiar with either of those programs, but I can look into it. Sorry for replying so late, but I rarely look at this thread.

(For future readers, if you're comfortable with filing a bug report, the addon's issue tracker is here: https://codeberg.org/alxndr42/...)

The addon that's currently in the Kodi repository (v2.0.0) is still playing the streams, but not the slideshow, due to issues with the old metadata API. (In other news, I recently learned that RP has a new metadata API. ðŸ˜¬) I've submitted a fixed version (v2.0.1), but it needs to be reviewed by the Kodi project, which sometimes takes a while.

If you would like to install the new version earlier, you could try the Zip file from the releases page. But please note that this will disable auto-updates for the addon, so you should probably reinstall it from the Kodi repository at some point.

Update: the fixed version (v2.0.1) has been accepted by the Kodi project and should start showing up in the addon list.

Ouch. Thats an expensive and nifty system you seem to be running there.
Well then, good luck on all your endeavors to come!

(Perhaps, you can contact the script-author directly, as he doesn't seem to frequent this forum all too often.)

Haha, not too expensive, to be honest. It's a QNAP TS-251+, not the most powerful but quite suitable for home use. Bought it specifically for the HDMI output, since it allows you to plug it in to any TV and manage / run apps such as Kodi, Plex, Emby, and many more, as you would on a PC...

And thanks; I've just created a new post on the script author's github page...

What OS is your older Kodi version running on?

If it runs on an Android_TV, or on MacOS, you can always install the corresponding native RadioParadise app, which makes the Kodi-addon script for RP somewhat obsolete, I think. Even Windows has an RP app.
If Kodi is run on Linux, there are other ways to get around the sense of lacking something: 'Shortwave' is a nice app to play RP on Linux systems, among others. 'Sayonara' isn't bad, either.
And on any system, overall, VLC works great.
For more infos on ways to play RP among other internet-radio stations on any system, check out radiobrowser.info.

Giacomo Tufano, who developed the first RP app for Mac and iOS (afaik) also did a port of Shortwave for Mac. Too bad, he didn't continue that one, imho. - Curiously, I can't help but think, he must have obtained a better job, working for RP as iOS developer. Of course, I'm just guessing,  out of merely thin air, here.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm running Kodi Leia on my Qnap NAS,  which is connected to a TV though HDMI. I've been using the 'Radio' addon to listen to RP and this works OK, but a few days ago I ran into the RP Kodi addon while testing Kodi Matrix on a PC, and really liked how it picked up album art as well as allowing for FLAC streaming. That's why I asked if there was the possibility of a Leia compatible version.

And yes, I could upgrade Kodi on the NAS to Matrix, but at the moment Matrix lacks some customisation features and addons Leia does offer... ;)

Just wondering; is there any chance the RP addon could be backported / made compatible for Kodi Leia?

So, thank you big time, for writing and putting up that RP script! Works like a charm! - (A "skip song" feature would even add to the pleasure. I do realize, that asking for this, or even a sign-in and song-rating features would be 'too much', as you probably don't want to write a new Android app! Hahaha).

Thanks for the feedback!

About new features, I wasn't planning to do much more than the current playback, since jarro mentioned they might start working on a Kodi add-on of their own in the near future. And implementing any of the RP-specific functionality will likely require building a custom user interface.

The addon has been merged into the official Kodi addon repository, so if you're running the Kodi v19 release candidate, you should now be able to find it in the music addons category!

As for Kodi, I keep reading more about copyright-infringements, lately, and lawsuits, people getting arrested, etc. bc of illegal streams implemented in such systems, like TV boxes, etc.

I would suggest that those people don't sell access to illegal streams then.

Luckily, this is not a problem if you use one of the many entirely legal content sources, such as the new Radio Paradise addon.

I couldn't find any of the previous addons published, so I started working on Yet Another Kodi Addon over the holidays. After checking in with the RP folks, the project is now public:
https://github.com/7adietri/script.radioparadise

The addon requires Kodi v19. You can currently install it via the source code Zip that GitHub generates. It would be great if more people could test it and create GitHub issues for any bugs that show up. If nothing serious is found, I'll submit this as a 1.0 release to the official Kodi repository.

Some more background: due to a lack of skill and time, I didn't want to create a custom music player GUI, so the addon is using the built-in Kodi music player. This limits the amount of customization and RP-specific features for now.
