Edit to add: Fwiw, I've moved to PowerAmp for streaming RP .flac. You miss the full effect of the Ken Burns thing (a nice thing to have on in the car) but you do get a lot of sound processing possibilities.

Regarding sync.   it will sync with the live stream,  or a device if one is detected.   (  under normal circumstances not something one will use )

Everything should work over a WIFI connection with cellular data disabled.   I'll see if I can reproduce that.   Only thing that comes to mind is there have been some issues in the past with VPN's  causing WIFI  to be detected as a metered connection.  Which in turn will cause WIFI to be treated as a cellular connection.

"Cache autofill", I just discovered, will create cache blocks visible, not there, but on the Offline listening page.
And none of that will work without cellular data being allowed (on Android 11).
As I said, I've been in IT for a couple decades, so I feel justified in asking, "WTF?"

Not to be a dick about this, if you all are shorthanded or whatever, I offer my volunteer help. I've always been a Systems kind of technician, but no stranger to app development, and even some coding. Feel free to pm me. This is a great app and just seems to have been in a half-baked state for years now.

To answer your questions,  the buffer ahead feature is more for live listening.  When you expect to be offline for short periods.  It will happily delete downloaded music to stay in sync with the live stream.

The offline/cache blocks are for when you expect to be offline for much longer periods or don't want to use any mobile data.   This music isn't deleted until you listen to it.

The cache auto fill is something more recent.   It will attempt to top up cache blocks when the phone is charging.   Mainly just for convenience for those that mainly use offline cache blocks.   ( also helps with people that have trouble downloading blocks manually during the day )     Can think of it as a low water mark it will try to maintain.   You can always manually add more from the main interface.

I cannot get my head around how to use, or understand the various cache and buffering options and what they apply to.
Why is there a "buffering ahead" option on the cache blocks page? Aren't cache blocks themselves a kind of buffering?
Why is there a Manage cache option to "Add channel", but I already have 2 cache blocks and they don't appear there to manage? Or do they mean different channels? I have no idea.
I'm an IT guy of 25 years, and I'm used to working through confusing interfaces, but this one takes the prize.
Please advise.
