A so-called friend sent me to this site and I don't know if I like these or not but the few I've done all required hints but he worked them out with no hints. That's throwing down the gauntlet for sure.
I never really got into Crypto crosswords or whatever they're called, but my mom did them while watching TV and smoking Winstons. This is just one word to figure out and that's enough. I think there are lots of other iterations on the page but this single-word one is all I need for now...

Once you've done it, and especially if you needed a bunch of hints, there's a video that explains how *they* arrived at the answer. There are also how-to guides but I haven't read them and thought "ah ha!" so YMMV.
