Neil Young has canceled his upcoming European summer tour with the Chrome Hearts.
The singer-songwriter announced the news via his website, the Neil Young Archives. "I have decided to take a break and will not be touring Europe this time," he wrote. "Thanks to everyone who bought tickets. I'm sorry to let you down, but this is not the time. I do love playing LIVE and being with you and the Chrome Hearts. LOVE Neil be well."
The trek, which Rolling Stone included on their list of the most anticipated tours of the year, was slated to kick off on June 19 in Manchester, England. It was supposed to continue through the U.K. and Europe, concluding in Udine, Italy on July 26. Elvis Costello & the Imposters were scheduled to open on select dates.
Young assembled the Chrome Hearts in 2024, featuring Micah Nelson, organist Spooner Oldham, Promise of the Real bassist Corey McCormick, and Promise of the Real drummer Anthony LoGerfo. "That's the other cool thing about the Chrome Hearts that I think keeps Neil energized," Nelson told us last fall. "He knows he can do anything. Whatever era of Neil or whatever deep cuts, we can learn stuff pretty quick and deliver something. And especially because we have Spooner, it's like we can do the Harvest Moon stuff in a way that really feels like the albums, and we can go delicate and we can get loud and ragged and do everything in between."
The news of the tour cancellation arrives days after Young doubled down on his plan to remove his music from Amazon, and gifted all of it to the people of Greenland in response to President Donald Trump's threats against the nation. "I hope my music and music films will ease some of the unwarranted stress and threats you are experiencing from our unpopular and hopefully temporary government," he wrote. "It is my sincere wish for you to be able to enjoy all of my music in your beautiful Greenland home, in its highest quality. This is an offer of peace and love. All the music I made during the last 62 years is yours to hear. You can renew for free as long as you're in Greenland. We do hope other organizations will follow in the spirit of our example."

I listened to the new Fu##in Up album today and loved it. Thirty years ago he recorded these tunes with Crazy Horse, and then played them at a small gig in 2023. Nice. Strong recommendation if youâre a Neil fan.
I've been waiting years for Neil to tour near me again & nabbed tix yesterday for his Crazy Horse Tour riding through Denver in July. Judging from this article, it's been worth the wait.
Im going to try to make that show myself...saw Neil last year at the Greek in LA for Willie's 90th...first time he played post pandemic and he was admittedly a bit rusty, but I'm sure he's back in form by now.

Bass-ackward reasoning. Neil, Joni, Nils, and others left because of the potentially deadly misinformation coming from Rogan. No one was cancelled.
Now, if the gay community and/or their allies want to stop buying Neil records, they may. But thatâs not happening at this time, so they must not see it as important. If they choose to, then itâs their right. In the meantime, trying to create a mountain out of a molehill is boring.
Speech is free. The First Amendment (for those outside the States) means he canât be arrested for what he says. Thatâs all. He can still be fired, criticized, mocked, and ignored.
However, reprehensible speech is irresponsible.
I skimmed the bulk of the Turley piece. He doesn't seem to touch on the responsibility of a person with a public-facing, broadcasted show to base his opinions on facts. Rogan has a right to have opinions that don't agree with medical experts but he should be pushed (perhaps not forced) to back his statements with some evidence.
The alternative is to have Rogan and others promote baseless conspiracy theories and endless excuses about how "mainstream" thinking is filled with lies and brainwashing.
People will give the opinions of Rogan and others greater credence just because they're on TV/radio and have good ratings. But Rogan and others thrive mostly because they're provocative, not because they adhere to facts.
I don't think that Rogan should be cancelled or censored but given that he has a large voice in a public forum, he should have to answer to people demanding that he back up his opinions with facts.
Boycotts of public individuals have their place. Would Turley object to a boycott or disciplining of a person who claimed that Jews were parasitic sub-humans and should be gassed into extinction?
