My brother is an example: in debt, socially unequipped, and looking as if he's pregnant. A wonderful woman fell in love with him. They'd be together but his self esteem is completely destroyed and he feels that he would ultimately hurt her.
Then there's me - I wanted a happily ever after with a man and though I did my best to resist, I fell for another girl like me.
Okay, you can strike my example because I'm a freak but you know it happens.

There are other ways to meet people. In a large city like Chicago there are hundreds of meetups through meetup.com. They are all over, so there might be some in your area too. I can tell you from personal experience that it is beneficial to have some social interaction, especially if you spend most of your time alone. If you go to every meeting, you get to know the regulars, just like on RP, and it becomes enjoyable. You can hopefully find a meetup of like minded people that you can enjoy.

Life is scary, but it's a lot more fun if you live it. Enjoy the ride!
