JustJanis wrote:I've done the online dating thing over the past 10 yrs or so. I was at the point where I thought "no more.....I'll meet someone naturally if I'm meant to." Then one Friday night early last year at this time, I was online, there was an ad for yet another new dating site, I was caught bored out of my mind, created a quick profile so I could "browse" and decided......"hmmmmmm....where would I like to live?" My daughter was graduating and would stay in Oregon where she was going to school, so I searched there. Timing.......luck.......karma???? SHOCK......the God's were smiling down on me, and him. AND, his niece was graduating WITH my daughter so we met for the first time at the graduation. I'm relocating to Portland at the end of this school year. Sometimes it takes over 50 yrs to find the person you should grow old with. He's perfect.......for me. He's my best friend. Lucky, happy girl I am. Excellent...congrats!

I was alone for about 6 years and completely content and then I found someone that was perfect for me by not looking. I am perfectly content either alone or with someone, the only time I am not content is when I am with someone who is not compatible or does not treat me right. Inner peace and serenity is numero uno; everything else takes a faaaar back seat!

Supa Freak - - Rock on! Love is a big deal - living without it is tough, and, amongst the billions, when we find people we truly can and do love - then we are that much better, and all the rest becomes minutiae.

I can tell you from personal experience that it is beneficial to have some social interaction, especially if you spend most of your time alone. If you go to every meeting, you get to know the regulars, just like on RP, and it becomes enjoyable. You can hopefully find a meetup of like minded people that you can enjoy. Life is scary, but it's a lot more fun if you live it. Enjoy the ride! It's just a ride, it's just a ride No need to run, no need to hide It'll take you round and round Sometimes you're up Sometimes you're down It's just a ride, it's just a ride Don't be scared Don't hide your eyes It may feel so real inside But don't forget it's just a ride I live in a small, depressed town where people are leaving in droves to find work. In the 5 years I lived here I have found no way to meet a special someone. I've made friends here but it seems its all married people here except for the college kids. I seem to be the only single older person here. The nearest town of any size is about an hour away. I also have a limited drivers license due to a stroke and can't legally drive at night or long distance. I am also now on disability and struggle just to keep up with the house payments (been try to sell for 3 years) so there isn't much money left over for anything fun or going out. I've never been into bars or clubs and am terrible allergic to nicotine (makes my throat swell up) so thats kept me out of those places all my life, not that I would want to meet someone there anyways. I even tried hosting a Yahell group for local singles here and described the results several posts back...
