I never forgot that face. Weatherworn from years of standing on a corner, holding his sign.
"Anything will help. God Bless You"
It must have been twenty years ago now. I went through that intersection many times on the way to the lumber yard and there he would be.
Most of his nose was gone. Diabetes from drinking I supposed. The skin of his hands and face, well, one might imagine. Red rimmed, crystal blue eyes. Pleading smile.
His sign was always the same one. It seemed to be recycled from a piece of foam board or plastic. Another sign, I thought.
One day, I saw what was printed on the back, most of it torn or worn away.
What was left read simply, "DESTINY.COM"
To this day when I drive through that same intersection I see the curtain pulled back on our world. That particular man is long gone, often replaced by others, but none as memorable.
I don't see that as often as I use to when I worked in the city, but every time I would drive by I couldn't help but think...that could be me.

I use to have an inquiring mind of how things work taking things apart, tinkering, and putting it back together. And there was always 1 screw left over.
Yeah, I had a big long reply, sufficiently obscure and often viscous in my usual way, pummeling through indecipherable quotes, poems, visuals, mathematical protonomolies, slangy similitry and silly string theories, smiley whiplashings and unnecessarily disconnected and unctuous wordity as well as flagrant yet fragrant if not frequent thread jacking.
Sadly I could not come up with one reasonable opinion about that. Not one astute comment. Maybe the saying and the doing got to be too much of a chore.
The Beatles sang, All you need is love. And then they broke up.

If you're a deep thinker, is it possible that one day you'll go too deep and never resurface? Or get so lost in thought that you can't find your way back home? Or...oh look! Bacon!
This wonderment is perplexing to me...
What could be a greater indication of a poor economy:
A new dollar store opening
Or
An old Dollar store closing?
