Oh hell no! 81, Really! Wow.
This could be in the “what makes me feel old” category.

Spencer Davis, Whose Band Was a Hitmaker in the ’60s, Dies at 81

“Gimme Some Lovin’,” “I’m a Man” and “Keep On Running” made the rock group, from Britain, famous and launched the career of its lead singer, Steve Winwood.

Sharkey!

At KCPR where Justine and I were, albums would have stickers on them from the Music Director telling something about the band or what songs to play, etc. (when they were new)... the sticker on the first VH album the handwritten sticker just said "The Pride of Pasadena!"

When that band played Billings frickin' Montana and I was 17, oh, man. I don't think I've ever participated in a frenzy like that. I'm a big guy, and about 5 or 10 feet from the front rail, and from the crush from behind, there were several minutes where my feet were off the ground. I can't imagine what the people up against the rail were experiencing but people die in situations like that.

It was awesome.

Good times...

Then The Who and the dopes in Cincinnati screwed everything up and eliminated general admission for the most part.

Eddie Van Halen - the all-American guitar hero who, with his namesake hard-rock band Van Halen, redefined the sound and possibilities of the electric guitar in the 1970s and ’80s, died on Tuesday at age 65. The cause was throat cancer.
