I thought that fentanyl and opioids (poisonings) are the number one cause of death of children in the US.  I was wrong on that, too.

Seems that accidental injuries have been and still are the number one killer of children.

Here, try this ...
.
Leading causes of death

Even Snopes has a caveat on these statistics.

The latest available data pertinent to this claim covers 2020 and 2021. As of this writing, there is no data available for 2022 and 2023.

The claim that guns were the leading cause of death for U.S. children in 2020 and 2021 is true only if the selected age range is 1-19 years old. This range excludes infants under one year old, who have a unique risk of age-specific causes of death.

Similarly, capping the age range at 17, instead of 18 or 19, also alters the result, as children aged 17 and under have a greater risk of dying of vehicle-related injuries.

Here's what is really sick.  And it is old news.   Our present government is totally ignoring this.
.

Drug overdose deaths top 100,000 annually for the first time, driven by fentanyl, CDC data show

 November 17, 2021
As of 2016, drug overdoses have killed about as many Americans as car accidents and gun violence combined. Now, drug overdoses cause about twice as many deaths.

some placating sounds, mumbled something about a friend of his... said something like it's not sure yet. but we know.

I vowed never to move again.  I couldn't do it even if there were homes available. I will always have a say of what
happens to me. I still have choices. I won't be moving out of this house.

Don't worry - I won't be asking from any kind of help from anyone this time.

You may get it anyway.  Your hard work at cleaning up the property may be just the thing the owner was concerned about.  The steam roller approach was followed up with a fly swatter.
Try to keep the prop up as best you can from now on.  I'd say that's all the owner really wants.

GOP Lawmaker Who Voted Against Paid Sick Leave in Florida Takes Paid Leave From Congress
Workers in many industrialized countries have paid sick leave, a right that has been opposed by business interests in the U.S. for decades. Over the last 10 years, many Americans have in fact lost the right for paid sick leave as corporate interests groups have pushed to roll back the right of local governments to enact paid sick leave policies.

In 2013, then-Gov. Rick Scott signed Gaetz-backed preemption legislation that barred every city and county in Florida from enacting paid sick leave legislation. Disney World, Darden Restaurants, and the Florida Chamber of Commerce promoted the Florida preemption effort.

The Florida law was part of a national drive by industry that began as a reaction to an ordinance in San Francisco. In 2006, voters in San Francisco passed a referendum that required employers to provide paid medical leave for workers, a decision that sparked a movement across the country as other cities developed similar policies. The counterassault from the business lobby came a few years later, as Republicans began making electoral gains after the 2010 midterms.

In 2011, then-Gov. Scott Walker signed a preemption bill into law in Wisconsin designed to override the 2008 Milwaukee ordinance providing paid sick days to workers. Later that year, the American Legislative Exchange Council, a lobbyist-run group that develops template legislation, championed the Walker legislation as a key policy that other states should emulate.

The ALEC committee tasked with leading the charge on banning local paid sick leave was headed by a lobbyist from Yum! Brands, the company that owns Kentucky Fried Chicken and Taco Bell.

After thinking about my current bout of illness I reckon I tend to react badly to bacterial infections. Thinking of my pneumonia last year which shouldn't have been as bad as it was ie hospitalisation and a severe bout of tonsillitis about 3 years ago. The rest of the family seem to get the illness but be under the weather for a couple of days. I get really full on ill so last night Andy had one dubious er movement and I was in the bathroom every half hour. Is this plausible does anyone think and any thoughts on strengenthing my system?? I don't think that viral infections are an issue as I haven't been ill all year apart from this and definitely threw a potential cold off in the spring when I though I might still be weak from the pneumonia.

It would appear that either 1) I have managed to lose both my engagement ring and my wedding band, or that 2) someone has stolen them. There are only two people who would have had easy access to them and both have worked for me for years, so wondering if one of them had something to do with it is making me very ill. (I couldn't say that last part in that other place because I have both those employees on my friends list.) If either of them did it, they're going to get away with it. I would rather continue believing I can trust two people I consider close friends and think for the rest of my life that I was the idiot who lost my rings, than confront them and learn that they're both utterly innocent. Each of them would be crushed if I did that.

We'll be moving soon, so the issue of potentially retaining employees who steal from me will become a moot point.

Kinda put a pin in my day. {#Eyes}

Hmmm, I thought it was all sugar. That's what I was told. That's good to know, because organic sugar is expensive.

I think it's because a lot of what can be referred to as "sugar" (as a listed ingredient) can also come from sugar beets (about 50%), which can be from GMO's.
