If in that area, try to hit some of the last remaining juke joints, like Red's in Clarksdale.
Go at night when the party is going on. You don't want see the day after in light.
I missed the Staxx museum, it looks good on the 'net
Then there's. the ducks at that hotel.

I've been to Nashville once for a quick trip in to see The Steel Drivers at The Ryman 15/16 years ago. That was Chris Stapleton's band before he became Chris Stapleton. If you can't make a show there at least check to see if you can take a tour. We got there early so we could check it out and my first thought was "are they really going to have a live show here?", it's a holy museum. Also had a beer at Tootsie's while sneaking a peek up the singer's dress, when in Rome etc. But like miamizsun said about Nashville under going some serious morphing/transformation it sounds exciting. I get bits and pieces of news of it from reading music articles of people like Jason Isbell and Jack White.

Now, what are things folks would recommend?
nashville is and has undergong some serious morphing/transformation
i haven't been there in a long time, so i couldn't reliably point you to a hepcat hangout/eatery
for personal reasons my favorite spot is vanderbilt children's hospital
maybe catch a show at the ryman, visit the music hall of fame or the johnny cash museum
avoid the rattlesnake petting zoo

Driving in from Memphis, and then flying out on the last day around 4pm. And, what about Memphis? 2-3-4 days? Driving over from a week in Gatlinburg (in mid July, and I'd just hit town and my throat was dry...) So we fly in from Pittsburg, drive over to Gatlinburg. Hang for a week, then go to Memphis for how long, and then drive up to Nashville for a few days until we fly home to the Best Coast. We're trying to partition our time out. Could even leave Gatlinburg a little earlier if you think we need more time in the other places. TIA In Memphis don't go to Beale St in the daytime, dirty little town.
