Obviously I haven't been listening to Beyond... very long, but I've only had to PSD twice! Really appreciate this foray into a new level of RP, and I thank you so much. Especially after listening for 25 years, to have something new and innovative - musically - is to be applauded.
Note this is in contrast to how girly-girl () the Main Mix has become of late. And I'm a girl... so it's good to have something wonderful and new instead of listening to my Faves on repeat.
... hard to get a foothold on improvisation. ...
I think of improv jazz in the same realm as golf: fun to be doing it, but an absolute bore to watch except in exceptional cases.
Some improvisers do seem prone to self-indulgent aimless noodling. I notice it in rock as well as jazz.
I think Pat Metheny once said he tries to listen to himself as if he were in the audience, which seems like a good approach to me.

I wonder why (almost) every track immediately gets a very low rating.
No nostalgia bump like there would be with Zep or the Floyd or Beatles.
Also, hard to get a foothold on improvisation. Same concept of the listener/rater not being familiar with it.

Listened to an hour or so while driving. I like it so far.
Apparently someone doesn't like it, though. Of the few song ratings so far, someone appears to be giving everything very low numbers. Seems to me it would be easier to simply stop listening. Go figure.
Noticed the same thing. Weird that someone is listening to the channel and giving everything a 2 or 3 star rating. Often it is the first rating the song has received?!?
Apropos of everything, we were in Mexico City a few months ago and stopped by a record store that had an amazing listening room upstairs.
We happened in on jazz night and this station is giving me same vibe...
I like the way this channel so far seems to emphasize complex percussion.
I get bored easily by songs that have nothing but simple metronomic drums throughout. It's worse when those songs are purported to be jazz. "No boring drums" is part of my personal definition of jazz. (Although, like all attempts at rigid rules, an occasional exception can be worthwhile.)
Since I joined RP Iâve wanted to hear more Jazz content so was so pleased to get the email about Beyond Mix. So far not, by any measure, disappointed. Looking forward to hearing lots of new (to me) stuff.
My votes carry so much more weight... I'm sure I'm going to inadvertently change the career trajectory of an artist or two.
PROGRAMMER NOTE:
When I pressed the header Music/What's playing.... not only did I go to the Main Mix (no biggie)... Beyond disappeared from the player as an option. I had to return to the home page and refresh the browser to return to beyond.
I was hoping "Beyond" would be something truly futuristic - deep space music, ambient, experimental sounds, music of the future. But it turned out to be jazz, which is unfortunately the one genre I'm not really into.
When it was first introduced, the vibe felt much more like space-themed or cinematic music, which I really liked.
Would it be possible to add a separate channel focused on futuristic or space-inspired music? Something more in the direction of ambient, synth, or experimental genres.
Currently, Beyond does include some of that futuristic vibe, but it feels more focused on jazz overall.
If you want to find that sort of genre elsewhere, there are two "stations" from William's friends at SOMA-FM that you may know of, which seems close to the "ambient/deep space" formats you describe. Space Station SOMA
and Deep Space One

Sound's like it could be time for another round of frontier psychiatry. Hold on to your ski poles...

Is there a secret code to asking Siri to play this channel? Asking for âRadioParadise Beyondâ or âRadioParadise Beyond Mixâ or âBeyond RadioParadiseâ by Tunein doesnât come close to the right thing.
