$50M to examine why the current Amtrak Cascade route will remain the only train between Seattle and Portland.  That runs 7 times per day and takes 3.5 hours.   I can't imagine a study is going to find value in spending billions to save 2 hours on that trip.   If it ever does get built... everyone will wonder why people won't pay more for the train than it costs to fly.

I love trains.... took one every day for 10+ years on my commute to NYC (90 miles each way)... but that train in the PNW feels like a fantasy.

An unusual warm day so I can go on the roof and tweak antenna.

P.S. I didn’t fall off the roof, but a closer look shows the roof is going to need to be replaced in a the next few years

woke up at 3:00 AM and it took a while to realise that I don't usually smell smoke at night. Nothing seems amis in the house and no notifications from the emergency app. I think it must be the bushfire a couple of hours drive away.
