Well. I brought a djembe, floor tom, bongos, a bodhrán, chromatic harmonica, several diatonic harps, bells, tambourines, mallets, tippers, sticks and brushes and a melodica. I came, I played, and I read Garments from Kahlil Gibrans's The Wanderer. It was almost unattended and absolutely splendid...
This is going on in my country which once used to care for their citizens... currently only having shareholder-values in mind anymore. Local hospitals closing down by numbers, nationwide. Underpaid staff resulting in undercare, and medical-care crisis everywhere.
No will to change the situation in sight, politically. Privatization of health-care continues...
Terrible thing to hear. And, yes, as long as health care is for profit and fee-for-service then you can expect more of the same: rising costs with less service. In the US we have the highest costs - and poor outcomes. That's not supposed to happen.
I pledged my vote. A quorum was reached today, to keep the local hospital afloat, against the political will of the rulers. - Yay! (next hospital w. ICU would be 25 km away).
Right now, my mom's been there in ICU care and subsequent rehab. I can visit her daily. With the new scenario raised by local politics, I'd have to visit her via public transportation, i.e. one visit meaning a half-day travel back and forth.

When I was in hospital myself this year, the night-nurse was using an electric scooter to service three different hospital stations at once.

I did my civic duty, by being a juror via Zoom, for two hours and twenty minutes. That date was March 10, 2023 and on said date I will be over 70 and can claim a permanent exemption if I so wish...No muss, no fuss. God bless America.

Good luck, Kurt! Very sorry you guys are dealing with such a tough hand these days. Are there volunteer groups in your area who could drive you while you fix your car issues?
Thanks. Have another car. 2004 Civic EX 2 door with a 5 speed. Used to be my Dad's car. Just poured about $7 k into it the past year. Windshield, wiper arm linkage, new driver's door hinges, brake lines all around, front calipers, rotors and pads, both rear brake wheel cylinders (bleeders were rusted and seized) and shoes, both front control arms / ball joints, all 4 struts, exhaust from the converter back, and a clutch and tranny rebuild from when the hydraulic line for the clutch rusted out and failed. You may have heard that Ohio is not afraid to use salt on the roads in the winter. Lot's and lot's of salt and then they will spray brine before a storm if no rain is expected before the snow starts. The tranny was $3.5 k but all the other work had been done so I had little choice. I roached the syncros for second gear trying to get it home when the hydraulic line blew out. It was doubtful if certain parts for the tranny were even still available. I got lucky. I used the old double clutch routine for a little bit but realized that wouldn't work well for very long and did the rebuild. The body is still decent and it has 146 k on it. Just changed the oil in it an hour ago (myself), needs two tires and its good to go for quite awhile, I hope.
Now I wait for the estimate on the wrecked Honda. Covid has changed all of that. Haven't been assigned an adjuster yet. It is now done remotely by camera phone is what I am hearing. Got rental car coverage for up to 30 days so I'm waiting to find out what is next before I use that option.
Still don't know what is wrong with the wife. Took her some dinner from Arby's. Not even talking about a release date yet. Sunday would be the earliest right now, if they figure out what is wrong.
Time for a nap. I'm whupped. And then there is work tomorrow.
