That said, it's a little storefront church. Send ten reporters and you've probably doubled their attendance. Doesn't justify hateful behavior, but even here they're getting more attention than they deserve.

You can walk down the street in any major city and hear whackaloons preaching about the Illuminati or the CFR or the leprechaun-unicorn cabal controlling the world. We don't make a big deal about it. We don't pretend they're any part of the political process. They have a right to their free speech, however irrational or ridiculous or offensive. And we have every right to ignore them as irrelevant crackpots.

Really.  That's a mighty high bar.

Perhaps you should have a look at this video.   See any hatred being preached from the pulpit there?  Yes? No?

Beaker, I'm an atheist preacher's kid. The church I grew up in was nothing like what is shown on TV. I don't have the patience to watch preachers now. I watched the clip of Jeremiah Wright. Some of what he said is out there (the government knew about Pearl Harbor?) but some of it isn't (Uh, Tuskegee??) and I have to say that a lot of what Wright said isn't that far off-base. I watched the video three times. Take the delivery as you will; it is charismatic. The pastor who prayed for Obama's death is probably a charismatic speaker too.

I think I'll stop here. It's late, and Jonesy is trying to sit on the laptop. Go ahead and shoot down everything I've said. Good night.

Politics doesn't belong on the pulpit — ever.  IMO.  And death threats against a POTUS should be dealt with appropriately, no matter what the source.  If you are going to hold pastors to a higher standard, then what say you about Rev. Jeremiah Wright and your POTUS who sat in his congregation for YEARS, yet claims he had no idea what that guy was preaching from his pulpit.

Whup, did I just unearth another double standard?  Say it ain't so.

No, you didn't. I've never heard Jeremiah Wright preach, but as far as I know, he didn't call for the death of George W. Bush. As for the rest of of it, I'm going to claim ignorance. YES. Ignorance. Just as I didn't care what John McCain's, or in the past, John Kerry's, or G.W. Bush's, or Al Gore's, or (insert any former candidate for president) 's pastor said, I don't really care what Barack Obama's pastor said.

No, really. I don't care.

Double standard? Maybe. Perhaps I only wake up when a pastor wishes for the death of another human being (how Christian!).

Are pastors special? Do their prayers for the death of a sitting POTUS somehow mean more than just run of the mill death threats ... like say these:

Right.  Pastors are different.  Because they prove how far right the kooks are in the Rep party right?

And these other examples of far-lefties and their screeching is an example of what?  Modern progressive liberalism?

Pastors are different when they bring politics to the pulpit. Forgive me for holding pastors to a higher standard.

Pastor Steve Anderson is a Hater.
Those who rush to his defense are, likewise, Haters.
Look around, there are Haters everywhere.

These people suffer from such fear! Whether it is because there is a black man in the WH, whether they feel the loss of their power, or whether they are just fearful that they will lose everything they have, they are scared to death, and endangering the rest of us in the process.
