The only Pat Travers I know plays a very different kind of music and Ms. Travers might not be considered a celebrity in the current age, but there is something ineffably sad in her story. Patricia Travers, Violinist Who Vanished, Dies at 82 By MARGALIT FOX, The New York Times At 11, the violinist Patricia Travers made her first solo appearance with the New York Philharmonic, playing Lalo’s “Symphonie Espagnole” with “a purity of tone, breadth of line and immersion in her task,” as a critic for The New York Times wrote in 1939. At 13, she appeared in “There’s Magic in Music,” a Hollywood comedy set in a music camp. Released in 1941 and starring Allan Jones, the film features Patricia, chosen by audition from hundreds of child performers, playing with passionate intensity. In her early 20s, for the Columbia label, she made the first complete recording of Charles Ives’s Sonata No.2 for Violin and Piano, a modern American work requiring a mature musical intelligence. Not long afterward, she disappeared. Between the ages of 10 and 23, Ms. Travers appeared with many of the world’s leading orchestras, including the New York, London and Berlin Philharmonics and the Boston and Chicago Symphonies. She performed on national radio broadcasts, gave premieres of music written expressly for her and made several well-received records. Then ... nothing, a six-decade-long silence that lasted from the early 1950s until Ms. Travers’s death on Feb. 9 at 82. Her death, of cancer, in a Montclair, N.J., nursing home, was confirmed by her lawyer, John Sullivan. Ms. Travers, who never married, leaves no immediate survivors. Ms. Travers disappeared by hiding in plain sight, living quietly with her parents in the house in Clifton, N.J., in which she had grown up. She remained there till well past middle age, through the death of her father in the 1980s and her mother in 1995. Afterward, she moved to a condominium nearby.

He sure was a household name... partly because he was a likeable guy, mostly because he never got the forecast right. Don's name was synonymous with rained out picnics.

By Jeran Wittenstein and Anthony Palazzo Jan. 5 (Bloomberg) — Casey Johnson, daughter of New York Jets Chairman Robert “Woody” Johnson and an heir to the Johnson & Johnson fortune, has died. She was 30. Los Angeles Police Department officers arrived on the scene in Hollywood at about 11:51 a.m. local time yesterday, where fire department personnel pronounced Johnson dead, LAPD officer Sara Faden said in a telephone interview. A preliminary investigation shows she died of natural causes, with no sign of foul play, Faden said. The next step will be an investigation by the coroner that includes toxicology tests, she said. Casey Johnson was the companion of actress Tila Tequila. “The Johnson family is mourning its tragic loss, and asks for privacy during this very difficult time,” Jesse Derris, a family spokesman, said in an e-mailed statement. Her father bought the National Football League’s Jets in 2000 for $635 million. The team, which is one of 12 NFL clubs in the playoffs, joined the New York Giants in building a new $1.6 billion stadium opening this year in East Rutherford, New Jersey. In 2006, she told Vanity Fair magazine that “the stupidest mistake of my life” was her decision to reject Paris Hilton’s invitation to co-star with her in “A Simple Life.” Hilton instead chose Nicole Richie to join her in the reality television show about socialites living the lives of regular people. Johnson & Johnson: Johnson & Johnson was founded in 1886 by Robert Wood Johnson, Casey Johnson’s great-great-grandfather; James Wood Johnson; and Edward Mead Johnson. The New Brunswick, New Jersey- based company initially sold First Aid kits, sanitary napkins, baby powder, Band-Aids, and sterile sutures. Johnson & Johnson generated revenue of $63.7 billion in 2008, and had net income of $12.9 billion. It is the world’s largest health-products company and makes Tylenol, Listerine mouthwash, the anti-inflammatory drug Remicaid, the antipsychotic Risperdal, artificial knees, and weight-loss devices. Woody Johnson is on the board of Johnson & Johnson.

MSNBC just posted Britney Murphy's death and People (who is a rag, but usually rather reliable on its gossip) brought the post back. Sadly, I think its true. There is now source material besides TMZ.
