I believe that is one of the reasons that the state-owned Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) remains so popular with Canadian fans of spectator sports.

Ideology?  Nah......

I had the unique experience of watching a replay, in a replay, in a replay, in a replay, in a replay.

I was off and on watching the women's golf, but wasn't going to stay up all night, so I set the DVR.  It picked up the full replay.  During the round there was a weather delay, so they were replaying coverage from earlier in the round, and during that coverage, they had replays.

I understand the replay during the live coverage weather delay....but on the replay?

The coverage has become an internet event.  Television is an afterthought.

I watched as much as I could but not what I wanted because of the stupid way it was programmed. Forced to watch more commercials than Olympic content. Anyway... too much swimming and all the whistling and whistle blowing forced me to turn down the sound. But I really liked the Gymnastics. The track and field could have been pared down a bit to show fewer heats and more medals. The fencing was weird. The archery was cool. Diving... meh. Again, too many heats. Outdoor water sports rocked. Not enough shot put and discus and I didn't see any hammer throw at all. I missed all the baseball somehow. All in all, I enjoyed most of what I saw and I watched all day, every day. And the new sports like skateboarding and BMX were cool. I'm sorry it's over - now I have to go back to watching the news all day. It was great not watching politics for a week. I never heard a mention of covid once they were underway. That was refreshing. I'm glad they went ahead with it.

I caught some. The station carrying it here also streamed a lot of the different feeds so you could watch more things with less Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! but it was sometimes easier just to be spoonfed what they wanted you to see. Some of the equestrian was nice, and the cycline. Don't think I'd see the cycling Madison before and it was totally twisted. Kind of like roller derby on bicycles.

I didn't see any javelin. You got to see what they let you see and it wasn't really what I wanted. A lot of stuff was left out.

The thrill of victory and the agony of “ Da Feet” should be the cry of all those athletes competing under the sun.

Weird how the lack of an audience shouldn't impact whether or not we care to watch. It's the athlete, not the crowd, that we're watching. But somehow it feels less...important, even though it's unquestionably not.

No, Not watching.  The wife is flipping through every once in awhile though and I do see some of those bits walking by the T-Void.  The opening ceremony was an absolute joke.

It is time for the Olympics to go bye, bye.  It is anti globalist and glorifies tribalism.  It pits countries against other countries complete with political commentary which has absolutely no place in this event, or at least it used to be like that.  It has institutionalized misogyny where it requires certain female athletes to wear bikini bottoms or be fined.  It only recognizes the two biological sexes. It allows professional athletes to compete against amateurs.   It has rules against using certain drugs.  And lastly, it is turning out to be a CV 19 super spreader event.

It also flies in the face of the big blue dot of one world without borders school of thinking.

I would like to hear what all the world without borders people have to say about that.
