Since everyone wants open borders, we don't have any need for the NSA or the Border Patrol. Why track dangerous people when we don't give a rat's ass who we let into the country ? We can do away with the CIA and the FBI, too. But why stop there ? How about all the police, our military ? Let's declare everyone alive a citizen of the United States and be done with it. Welfare and food stamps for everyone ! Think of all the money we can save doing away with all the unnecessary government.
Anarchy ! Anarchy ! Survival of the fittest !

1) easily interchangeable with adults on a two-fer basis. 2) The assets they require to be fed and taught far outweigh any contribution that they might make to society, no matter how grateful. (Note - this can be extrapolated to all children.)3) This is not an unreasonable chant.4) Why have a machine gun and claim ammunition when there is no intention of using either ?

The trespassers do more harm to the American way of life than would the Border Patrol. The BP must have full unimpeded access to the border they must patrol. The border needs to be formally fenced, regardless of environmental impact. 3) This is an unreasonable limit. 4) No not to me. Why have a border and claim sovereignty when there is no intention of defending either ?

Just to show you that I have not recently taken up the term invader or invasion as you claim, at least 4 years ago, I did use it and have used it many times. Perhaps a system to allow day labor into the country legally ? Oh, wait, we already have that. A temporary worker visa program for aliens ? Oh wait, we already have that.
Or perhaps an open border to allow anyone to enter at will ? Oh wait, we already have that.
Then we need to ban swimming pools and lettuce fields. Cause if we didn't have any, they wouldn't come into the country.
Sounds similar to the need for oil causes the disasters to happen.
We can build and finish the fence before the debate about illegals is even close to being over. So let's get busy and do something more than just talking. Or we just buy up the ranches down on the border so the owners will no longer have to risk their lives just being there. Let the government buy out the ranchers and turn their ranches into parks and rest stops for the weary invader traveler.
Have a nice day, seriously.

To be honest, I believe that you are correct. It was something about him that pissed me off, as did the mandatory vaccination of children and some other things as well. I did state that I did not agree with everything he stood for. He did a lot of pandering as a candidate for POTUS in 2011. He was never on my list. His immigration policy has changed. For that I am most grateful. Of all the things I care about in the poly world, the security of our borders and being against illegal immigration has always been and will be my highest priority. You can scour these boards and find many inconsistencies on many things over the years for various reasons, but not on this one. You can go back and find my declaration where I said that my ultimate litmus test for political considerations was on our border. And I drew the comparison to other one issue voters such as those who made abortion their primary issue. I have taken much heat over it and have had to piss people off on the boards by insisting that people quit making the leap that being anti illegal immigrant does not make one anti immigrant or xenophobic or racist, yada, yada ... Our country, sovereignty and rule of law begins at our borders. Without borders that mean something, nothing else matters. I have been 100% consistent over the years on this. Perry has changed his position. I guess that he figured it out and came up with the right conclusion. I support that conclusion and am not afraid to say so. That does not mean I support him on everything, but on this I do. Feel free to backscroll this and the two other threads on this matter and find any inconsistencies on the matter. There aren't any. This matter has been an active concern of mine for over 45 years. I will die before I yield on this matter.

Hey buddy, let me in. I don't care if the concert is sold out, I drove 2,000 miles in 4 days to get here and see these guys. I've earned the right to see the show. I've been a fan my entire life. I'll just die if I don't see them. What do you mean I need a ticket ? Who do you think you are ? What gives you the right to tell me no ? Ok, I'll pay for the ticket. Sorry, the show is sold out, there are no more tickets, you cannot come in. Oh yeah ? I'll show you buddy. I'm going to get some of my friends and there will be so many of us you can't stop us. We'll show you who is boss around here. You can take your rules and tickets and shove them ...
. And then there was the one about the ferry in South Korea. They just kept letting people on and on and all the cargo. We'll they sailed off and hit some rough weather. It sank because it was overloaded and capsized. There were few survivors. Most of the dead were school children on a field trip who had made plans and bought tickets long in advance.
. # sigh ...

kurtster wrote:(...) What are the good people of the left doing ? Well, in some of those relevant countries they might still be hiding/running away from right-wing death squads/militias and/or coup leaders that were generously funded with your tax dollars (or see your personal hero's big ol' Iran-Contra Adventure's creative use of accounting). Although the projection of power there has become somewhat less potent in recent decades. And while (personal and fiscal) responsibility is always held up as a great virtue (especially right of the aisle), it's somehow different when things get broken somewhere else and the consequences happen to end up right on your doorstep (a.k.a. blowback), as opposed to just staying a great faraway place for investment (bomb, rebuild, arm, ad infinitum). Finally, if you keep the shining city on the hill's propaganda engines running long enough, some are bound to believe the stuff they churn out...

The Dream Act promise of Amnesty is the magnet that draws people to come here illegally. Who authored the Dream Act ? We let a great deal of people into this country legally every year. To allow illegals the same status of legals is to diminish those who have come here legally and what this country and its Constitution stands for. And what was up with FDR ? Did he put Americans first during hard times ? The horror ... And when we look at Obama's numbers there seems to be a definite decline in the number of legal immigrants he is letting in. Hmmm. The numbers do not lie ... Its so bad that Obama has called the leaders of 3 Central American countries from where the bulk of these invaders originate. But he has left out Mexico, who is facilitating this invasion. Without the help of Mexico, this would not be happening on the scale that it presently is. Why bother meeting at all. This invasion is not the result of the law passed under Bush dealing with the specifics of the sex trade in children as so many of the left claim. If that was true, this would have begun 6 years ago. The truth of the matter is that Obama is responsible because of his 2012 executive order end run around Congress with his Dream Act. Because Obama is so clueless or is actually covertly wanting this invasion, Gov. Perry of Texas is doing what Obama refuses to do. I do not agree with everything Perry stands for, but on this I say thank you for doing what Obama missed in his job description as POTUS. Just in the past couple of days our Border Patrol agents have come under .50 caliber machine gun fire. The claim that these children are escaping unparalleled violence is bullshit when all one has to do is look to Obama's home town of Chicago for something comparable. Let's see Holder sue Gov Perry for calling out the Guard. The governor and the people of Texas are ponying up $12 million a month to do what Obama as CIC is required to do by our Constitution. Thank you Gov Perry and the good people of Texas for doing what is necessary. Perry to deploy 1000 National Guard troops to the borderPerry sending National Guard troops to border (some) my bolds. Dingy Harry? Well I guess he just has to follow the great leader Speaker Boehner's example. Name calling is, unfortunately, one of your typical cheap shots. That trait devalues your commentary. An invasion of children? Guess we better man the borders! Get a f'n clue. Your bile is riling me. Your cherry picking of facts, half facts, and perverted implicity, and innuendo is baffling. If the BP was truly under any kind of threat, much less .50 caliber fire, there would be an "in kind" response. And that would have nothing to do w/Obama. What is the Texas National Guard going to do? Shoot kids? That move is all about Perry for Prez politics. The border is porous (so is it with Canada), always has been. They (nat'l guard) cannot block it. And if they could, you gonna deny humanity to children? Certainly part of the problem is Mexico. As it is all of the origin countries too, even more. Why do you think parents, who certainly love their children, send them North and on a very perilous journey? Bcs life is better here. Is it such a bad idea to share it? See Gov. Duval Patrick's response (of MA, of course). The kids immediately surrender to the INS/Border Patrol. This is a complex problem. Not solvable by demagoguery, it will require humanity, empathy and generosity, along with political and pragmatic concerns. You post prolifically. Too bad your posts don't reflect sound thinking, imo. Baffling, bcs once they did. And, as always, as is absolutely predictable, you worked in "Obama's fault" in some way. You have become a troll. Have you even noticed? I don't want a response (guarantees I'll get one) bcs you have gone from thinking and provocative to "tea-party speak" and boring. But your misstatements and mistaken statements, and what you imply as logical conclusions, require a response. I wish you well personally. But your vitriol is becoming poisonous. It is not humanitarian, imo. You are not generous to your fellow humans (children, in this case) on the planet. Good bye (for about the ninth time).
