I own 6 HEOS speakers.  All set up as pairs.  Two pairs of HEOS 5, and a pair of HEOS 3.  Sorry...no soundbar/TV experience.

I acquired them at first by accident ....then a bit of obsession / opportunity.  I say that because it explains why HEOS and Sonos.    The first H3 was a deal offered by Spotify for $99.  It sounded really good, so I quickly picked up another off ebay (from someone else looking to profit off the Spotify deal).  I paid around $150.  I had a pair for $250 vs. the $600 retail....and there's no going back.

Then the real opportunity.  When HEOS came out with their V2 (HD audio), they had a deal offering the H5 for $199 ($400 retail).  I bought one (the limit per email address)....and it was amazingly "bigger".  Lucky for me I have multiple emails.  $800 and a few weeks later I had the pair of H5's I'm listening on right now, a pair in our great room, and the H3's in the living room.  I use it nearly everyday....I'm surprised by how good the sound out of the H5's is every so often.  We had a party a few weeks ago outside, and 2 H5's sounded amazing outside.  Plenty of volume, and more bass than I expected outside.  unplug...move...plug in (within wifi range)....and listen.  I love them.

All of that said, Sonos always is rated higher.  The HEOS app is a bit screwy sometimes, but seems to get better and better.  It takes me 10 seconds to launch the app and get RP / other stations / Spotify running.  My daughter "borrowed" my H3's for her bedroom.....and we easily ran different music simultaneously through the app.  I like the looks of the HEOS speakers better, but that a personal preference item.  I would have a tough time telling someone paying retail to buy HEOS.   I love them, but all of the reviewers must have a reason for picking Sonos.   HEOS just announced some new equipment this week....so maybe that could sway your decision.  I don't think there is a wrong decision.  I listen to music a LOT more with these speakers.

I also have a Chromecast for my office.  I purchased RCA cables after to plug into my receiver.  It works great.  It sounds really good.  If you have a stereo you want to leverage for wireless, it is hands down a great way to go.  For $50 you can run wireless in a single location.

Hi you RP audiophiles!

I have this question... we are considering here a Denon HEOS system (the new bar, the new sub and a 5.1 HEOS 3 setup + multiroom too) for both TV and/or music (predominantly RP, duh what else?).

How does this compare to a Sonos setup? Yamaha? Any other options?

Comments, suggestions, experiences are welcome!
