Today's press briefing started with him talking about getting the release of a hostage overseas who is terminal. Truly good news, but he spent 5 mins talking about one person and the amazing work of his team while every other family in America waited to hear anything about why they can't leave their homes for the next month. Only those who credit his leadership remain on stage (which is why a dozen is down to 4). His new nickname is "China virus", having used his famous sharpy to correct the notes he was given that called it Corona. His stupidity is already killing people, and when someone does the regressions to show what reacting to this a month earlier would have done for the country...fake news!

Media Dutifully Report Trumpâs Fiddling as Coronavirus Burns Through World
- He called COVID-19 a âforeign virusâ and promised âthe most
aggressive and comprehensive effort to confrontâ it in âmodern history.â
- He banned âall travel from Europe to the United States for the next
30 daysâ to âkeep new cases from entering our shores,â though later this
turned out only to apply to non-US citizens (and not to people from
Britain or Ireland, either, for some reason); Americans traveling abroad will still be tested (somehow) before being allowed onto planes.
- He announced that âI met with the leaders of health insurance
industry who have agreed to waive all co-payments for coronavirus
treatments,â which turned out not to be true (Common Dreams, 3/12/20),
and that âwe are cutting massive amounts of red tape to make antiviral
therapies available in record time,â even though antivirals for the new
virus arenât available yet and may not be for some time (AP, 3/11/20).
CDC urges Americans to stay safe by doing opposite of everything Trump says
At this point, Trump should be required to appear in public dressed only in those hospital gowns that don't quite close in the back. OR, to save people from that awful flabby sight, hot pink slankets.

Trump Betrays His Promise to Protect and Fight for American Workers
Meanwhile, although Trump bragged in June 2019 that the wages of American workers âare rising at the fastest rate in many decades,â this claim is far from the truth. In fact, wages rose faster only a few years before, under his predecessor. Furthermore, an examination of what economists call âreal wagesââwages offset by inflationâreveals that they have remained remarkably stagnant during the Trump era. As the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics later reported, ârealâ average weekly earnings of American workers rose during 2019 by just one-tenth of 1 percent.
The wage stagnation of the Trump era is particularly hard on Americaâs vast number of low-paid workers. According to a study by the Brookings Institution appearing in late 2019, 44 percent of U.S. workers (53 million Americans) were employed in low-wage jobs that paid median wages of $18,000 a year. The writers of the report concluded that ânearly half of all workers earn wages that are not enough, on their own, to promote economic security.â Moreover, as data gathered by the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates, the percentage of low-wage workers has grown dramatically. Naturally, many of these workers have been forced, by economic necessity, to work twoâand sometimes threeâjobs to survive.
But his economy!
