Let's make peace by giving Poland to Germany. Right.

If your focus is to stop the war at all costs, and you bear none of the cost or loss, then it's easy to say negotiate and settle.

Imagine being stopped on the side of the road with your family when a very large, strong man walks up and says "I'll let the rest of you go if you give us your daughter".  Of course you say no, and start fighting.

Then, some A-hole with a bunch of fans says... "there's no need to fight... you were given a choice".  "You probably would have taken the offer if that loud mouth wife of yours didn't get involved."

The interviews I've seen with Waters on this tour, and his general disdain for the people paying to see him in the country he so hates feels like the last thrash of relevancy for someone with a little too much self-importance.

I really don't understand how anyone could seemingly "defend" Putin, but i think we also shouldn't ignore the US/Nato role in this mess.
Sure, Zelensky is the leader of a sovereign nation (so was Cuba), but are we that naive to ignore global politics...and the maniac that is ruling Russia?

RESPONSE TO MRS. OLENA ZELENSKA’S TWEET

Roger Waters responds to Mrs. Olena Zelenska’s Tweet of 5th of September.

This is the text of Mrs. Zelenska’s tweet:

It is Russia that invaded Ukraine, destroys cities and kills civilians.

Ukrainians defend their land and their children’s future.

If we give up—–we will not exist tomorrow.

If Russia gives up—–war will be over.

Dear Mrs. Zelenska,

Please excuse my tardy reply to your Twitter response to my open letter. I am in the middle of a North American tour. I confess I never dreamed you would respond personally. I am bowled over, so thank you. I note what you say, but I’m fairly sure that ‘giving up’ just like that, is not an option that any side is considering. I feel I’m getting to know you a little, I see that you, like me, trained as an architect, so maybe we have a common interest in building things. That is good because we all need to focus on building something now, and obviously that something is peace in your country. My research leads me to believe that peace in the Ukraine is what the vast majority of the people of the Ukraine voted for when they elected your husband as President. And that majority, expected him to use his huge mandate to negotiate a settlement between the Ukraine and the Russian Federation that would meet the security needs of both nations and provide a credible alternative to this disastrous war.

I believe even after hostilities began, last April, two months into the war, such a settlement was on the table, it was in Istanbul wasn’t it? What happened?

You were so close to a ceasefire. I smell interference from Washington

Yes, The Real Don Steele !! afternoon drive.  Tina Delgado is alive, alive !!!  The line up at 5.24 is the last one I remember the most.  That was a real special time.  New music breaking left and right.  Our local bands were the hot national bands.  I remember when the full length Light My Fire was released locally in December 1966 before it was nationally.  That changed everything.  KHJ was as eclectic a station could be in that time.  I still say that 1967 was one of the best years of new music ever.    And really high energy, but so were the times and the music.  The Turtles were the house band on 9th Street West or so it seemed.  The most influential music and musical time of my life.  Cleveland rivaled it somewhat in the mid 70's, but there is no surf in Cleveland.  All my musical references and cliches were based on that time in LA in those days.  Up until Patty and I got back together in 2001, I was just half a person.  No one really understood my references and why I was the way I was.  I used to mutter Tina Delgado is alive, alive !! out loud and other references of those days and people would just look at me.  She shared these times with me and brought the missing half of me back with her.  Now I am with someone who gets me and knows what made me the way I am now.  I don't have to explain me to her and she to me.  I will share this vid with her.  I'm sure that she will be smiling just like I am.

Much obliged !!!

Indeed.
Both KPPC and KROQ were influences on my musical taste.

Yep.  That is it !  I do remember the call and the numbers.  It was hard to tune in down in the OC and they didn't start broadcasting until after 6pm so you forgot to go there.  Never knew who would be there or what they were going to play.  Always wondered what they eventually became.  You knew they were going somewhere with this idea.

The other station I listened to mostly in the Bay Area was KGO at night on my REMCO crystal radio with the little earpiece.  Ira Blue broadcasting out of The Hungry I and all the people that he interviewed was who I listened to the most at night falling asleep.

East to Philly in 69 and it was WMMR-FM and I also listened to Cousin Brucie on 770 WABC AM in NYC at night.

I was just discovering FM radio about that time.

Kasey really was a driving force and pioneer of getting new music out on the air and into the ears.

Yeah, KHJ was what I listened to the most, then KRLA (Pasadena) and KFWB (Lohman and Barkley in the morning) as a last resort.  KRLA at that time had Kasem, Bob Eubanks and Wink Martindale in their lineup and a Bob Dylan wig on the roof or tower or something.  But the music and presentation was much better and more consistent on KHJ.  Up in the Bay Area, KEWB was my first choice.  I was just discovering FM then as well.  There was a low power "underground" station in Pasadena whose call I forget that was just getting started in late 1967 IIRC.  Still inconsistent and FM adapters for AM radio were still coming around.  So it was still mostly AM and 4 Track tapes in cars.  Humble Harv was indeed one of the best and maybe my favorite, too.  I remember a car promotion KHJ had once where caller number whatever got a chance to guess what car was going to come out of the "KHJ garage" next and if you were right, you won the car.  On one of HH's shows, somehow, three callers in a row were correct.  Out went two Jag XKE's and a Cadillac.  I was actually listening to that particular shift.  Raised some eyebrows.  The callers did get the cars, but there were some lingering questions.  HH kept his gig.  The promotion did continue for a month or so.  Robert W Morgan in the morning, Sam Riddle (Nelson was his uncle) was midday IIRC.  I forget who had afternoon drive and HH was early evening, again, IIRC.  Jeez, what a great time it was musically back then !

Another trip down Memory Lane

Just stumbled onto this after reading the song comments for Cymbaline and doing some searching for the Farfisa Compact Duo mentioned.  I never knew exactly what the keyboard instrument was that Richard Wright was playing way back when in the early days of Floyd, but it was the largest part of their sound that set the hook in a lifetime of Floyd appreciation.

I've told the story before about hearing them for the first time in the summer of 1968 when Kasey Kasem played the entire Saucerful Of Secrets on his weekly Sunday night show on KRLA  during which he would introduce and play 4 new albums from start to finish.  So I just asked the wife if she remembered me telling her the next day about hearing this new album from this new band called Pink Floyd and without hesitation (after 50 years mind you), she said yes and that I was really, really excited about it.  I then told her that I just finally found out exactly what was behind the sound that instantly blew me away that warm LA summer night on my little AM radio that I kept next to my bed and brought her into to watch and listen to this vid.  She was impressed, too, in finally seeing and hearing this primitive (not) instrument that was responsible for such a brand new sound in a time when all hell was breaking loose with new sounds left and right.  She loves keyboard synths and organs as much as I do, fortunately.

I may be late to this knowledge that many others already know, but if you're a Floyd fan like me who never knew what was actually behind their totally unique sound, here it is.
