Democrats need to stop trying to feel everyone’s pain, and hold on to their own anger.

So hold the empathy and hold on to the anger. If Trump delivers on his promises to the “poorly educated” despite all indications to the contrary, then good for them. Once again, all the Trump naysayers will be proved wrong. But if his administration crashes into an iceberg, leaving his base trapped in America’s steerage with no lifeboats, those who survive may at last be ready to burst out of their own bubble and listen to an alternative. Or not: Maybe, like Hochschild’s new friends in Louisiana’s oil country, they’ll keep voting against their own interests until the industrial poisons left unregulated by their favored politicians finish them off altogether. Either way, the best course for Democrats may be to respect their right to choose.

I'm kinda loath to use this source but ...

 Sheath Richards

Claims about Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards' threatening Donald Trump with a knife back in 1989 are exaggerated.

I love that story but with all due respect, The Stones should have more integrity than to accept the gig in the first place if they knew Trump was sponsoring it.  Just my humble opinion.  They are NOT a hungry band and by no means need an asshole like Trump to sponsor anything especially in 1989.

Keith Richards once threatened Donald Trump with a knife

During the Rolling Stones big comeback tourin 1989, Trump sponsored one of the Stones shows at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall, according to Salon. But the deal was, the Stones didn’t want to deal with Trump. They didn’t want him involved in its promotion. They didn’t even want him at the show. At some point, Trump went back on his promise. Stones tour manager Michael Cohl told Pollstar “I get word that I have to come to the press room in the next building. Irun to the press room in the next building and what do you think is happening? There’s Donald Trump giving a press conference, in ourroom!” Go ägure. After Trump left, at Cohl’s request, he reporter came back äve minutes later. Which didn’t please a certain Stones guitarist. Cohl said once Richards heard what Trump was doing, “he pulls out his knife and slams it on the table and says, ‘What the hell do I have you for? Do I have to go overthere and äre him myself? One of us is leaving the building – either him, or us.’” So Trump leaves the room but, of course, it doesn’t end there. Cohl said “three shtarkers he’s with, in trench coats, two of them are putting on gloves and the other one is putting on brass knuckles.” Cohl said he called the band’s head of security who “got 40 of the crew with tire irons and hockey sticks and screwdrivers.” Trump may be president of the United States, but nobody messes with Keith.

Don't challenge him.  I'm sure he'll find a way.  To watch that meeting and what took place afterward when cameras were allowed inside was downright painful.  Once again we have a 9 yr old wallowing in his own shit and flipping off everyone that dares to look his way.  It's incredibly embarrassing as he sits back and plays President insulting women, minorities and the poor.  What is even more frightening are his supporters that refuse to see how dangerous this type of behavior is and how embedded he and his corporate buddies are.

It's no surprise that Trump lacks nuance. From the CBS feed regarding today's Comey testimony:

12:48 p.m. President Trump posted two tweets from his @POTUS Twitter account during the hearing and inaccurately said the NSA and FBI are saying that Russia did not influence the electoral process. Actually, they are saying that Russia tried to influence it in Trump’s favor, and the president was briefed on that in January. The intelligence agencies just can’t say whether Russia’s efforts determined the election’s outcome.

Yeah. And this talking point that they're taking into consideration what coal miners and mothers of two think about budget decisions is such b.s. And, of course, if they did talk to them, these people would be begging for more money to be spent on the military and for programs like Meals on Wheels to have their budgets slashed.

Quite an exchange here:

“Yesterday, or the day before, you described this as a hard-power budget. Is it also a hard-hearted budget?”

“No, I don’t think so,” Mulvaney replied. “I think it’s probably one of the most compassionate things we can do.”

“To cut programs that help the elderly and kids?” Acosta asked, incredulously.

“You’re only focusing on half of the equation, right? You’re focusing on the recipients of the money. We’re trying to focus on both the recipients of the money and the folks who give us the money in the first place,” Mulvaney explained. “And I think it’s fairly compassionate to go to them and say, ‘Look, we’re not gonna ask you for your hard-earned money, anymore, single mother of two in Detroit … unless we can guarantee to you that that money is actually being used in a proper function.’”
