1962 - Two gunmen hijack a mail truck in Plymouth, MA, bound for the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston.  No one was ever convicted of the crime and the haul of $1.5 million in cash (equivalent to approximately $11,694,719 in 2013 dollars) remains undiscovered by the authorities.

1975 – The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the longest-running release in film history, opens at the USA Theatre in Westwood, Los Angeles, California

1935 – Franklin D. Roosevelt signs the Social Security Act, creating a government pension system for the retired

1901 – The first claimed powered flight, by Gustave Whitehead in his Number 21

1970, Stephen Stills was arrested on suspected drugs charges while staying at a San Diego Hotel after being found crawling along a corridor in an incoherent state. Still's was later freed on bail.

Considering it's David Crosby's birthday, I'm guess they were celebrating. hard.
