after having spent much time in Mexico/Central America/Caribbean, I'm a huge proponent of brown bottle beer or cans. That said, there is a tremendous amount of variability in the handling standards, and no matter how much sunlight you shield it from, 50 miles on a dirt road in the back of a pickup under the blazing sun takes a toll. Still better than the tap water in most of those places.
weather/geography/scarcity can influence what you drink
After 3,200 reviews at RateBeer.com, Corona has a grade of 1.69 out of 10,â according to Businessweek. The Beer Advocate gives Corona an 'awful' rating of 55 out of 100 and the following description: 'faded aromas of sulphur, faint skunk, mild cooked vegetables.
It's up to 1.72% now ;-)
Modelo's beers all get 15 or lower; Negra modelo's their best at 14%
Tecate's Moctezuma brewing does better; their Bohemia Weizen gets 25%; I've never even seen that though. Dos Equis red gets 19 and green gets 3%. Tecate itself gets 1.82% so it's funny to hear people take sides in the Tecate vs Corona debate.
Some microbrewers do a Mexican-style lager and they get better reviews just because they're probably fresher. Decent lawnmower beers.
Been awhile since I saw Simpatico anywhere. I wonder...
