Gathering cover art now, hope to ship at the end of the week. That said...I've been a terrible mixtaper. I've heard all the disks lately and I owe everybody reviews. I had a very detailed one for Sirdroseph's set...then a poorly-timed bad mouse click lost the whole thing. But I had a great time listening to this and have clever and snarky things to say about it but I just don't have the time to recreate it. Miamiszun's Aussie mix remains a very entertaining disc. I enjoyed every single song and wasn't familiar with any of the bands. A total win. The Miser Mini Mix is a format that's really working. I like listening while working, where it will occasionally stop me in my tracks with the resonance of the themes. Love it. So mine's almost ready and I hope to loose it on the world soon. Sorry, been stupid busy with nonprofit stuff and a lot of projects are suffering. But I'm close.

I checked on Roger Klug and find he is alive and well.  He is out of Cincinnati, I bought a disc from him sight & sound unseen from the now defunct Not Lame Records that just preceded the Internet. Would love to catch him live someday if I ever get out that way. I have a few of his CD's and enjoy them mightily.

I like this Mini format cause as I go thru my day and I hear a song or have an idea I can jot it down and put somethings  together at a later date.  I had a whole bunch of good ideas that I seemed to have lost the notes for so I kinda put this one together last minute. I have a tendency to use the same artists a lot,  probably cause they are all over my ipod and the mix ideas evolve when I have that playing. I'm going to try and get out of that comfort zone in the near future.  Hope you enjoyed the tuneage!

MINI MISER MIX VOLUME 3

Women, Can’t Live With Them…
Naggin’ Woman The Kinks
The Momur Adrian Belew
All Hacked Off Roger Klug

Shuffle off to Buffalo
Yonder Donna The Buffalo
Buffalo The Church
No More Buffalo James McMurtry

California Girls
California Amy Correia
Palm Springs Jill Sobule
Going to California Amy Lee

The Hobo Life
Railroad Song Lynyrd Skynyrd
Freeborn Man The Outlaws
Waiting on a Train Steve Forbert

10cc, Cause I like 10cc and it’s my Mix Dammit!
Lazy Way 10cc
The Second Sitting for the Last Supper 10cc
Rubber Bullets 10cc

One Hit Wonders
Tainted Love Soft Cell
Who’s Behind the Door Zebra
Don’t Ever Want to Lose You New England

1.  Naggin Woman - This kind of reminded of me Dylan ala Nashville Skyline; looked had no idea it was The Kinks and I just recently went on a Kinks run; must have been from Muswell. Great tune.
2.  The Momur - real booty shaker; love that piano.  {#Bananapiano}

3.  Hacked off - Excellent musicianship and production on this one.  Very nice.  Looked this guy up; saw an obit, but didn't specify it was the same guy, did he just pass?

4.  Yonder - Favorite song of mix so far, I'm a sucker for traditional country.  This is most excellent

5.  Buffalo -  This really reminds me of later Replacements. Very nice.

6.  No More Buffalo -  Been meaning to get more of this guy, well I am one more than I had yestidy, now innit? {#Propeller} Love the guitar work.

10. I have been researching a lot of railroad songs for my father, but I missed this one.  Actually this is a Skynyrd song I can't recall ever hearing which is rare.  Thank Got it's Ronnie, they actually have the nerve to put Skynyrds name with anyone else singing, but I get it Brand equals making a living.  Just breathe, its not quite as bad as Brian Johnson and AC/DC...oi vey!{#Yell}

11. Outlaws are one of the most underrated Southern Rock bands out of this era.  Good you put a live track on there, watching them live really highlights how unique they really were.

13.  I'm down with the cc too.  As part of some other work I was doing stumbled upon their body of work and was quite impressed. This one kinda reminds me of Queen A little bit.

14.  Second sitting -  They really did come up with some off the wall topics to write songs about. {#Bounce}

15.  Rubber Bullets - I was going to put a cc song on my next mix (Neanderthal Man) but you got us covered now.  Respect the C!

17.  Who's Behind the Door -  I missed this hit, nice guitar.

I like the little mini vignettes. When I make random mixes which are my favorite sometimes little themes pop up and create little 2fer or 3fer on some topic completely organic and that is a cool thing that makes you wonder about the universe.

Nice effort El Jeffe!{#Notworthy}

Does anybody else have a problem editing their post here.
I struggled many times to get that last post right. I just gave up because it was close enough.
I am using Word to do the initial post because I sometimes don't have enough time to just type it in one setting.
Then I dump it into the forum page. Then try to manage that mess. Mostly with a mess when I post it.

Mini Miser Mix...

Women...
1. Naggin' Woman. I’ve never heard this Kinks song before. And I thought I’ve heard them all.
2. The Murmur. I’m familiar with Adrian Belew and his quirkiness. I like his stuff.
3. All Hacked Off. What’s the reference to here anyway? I can't seem to get a grip. I’ve come up short with an explanation.
Buffalo’s...
4. Yonder. Familiar with Donna. For some reason I have a couple of promo CD’s from them.
5. Buffalo. The Church. One of my favorite bands. Always loved their chiming guitars. Hmmm. Inspiration for an upcoming Mix from this Kurt.
6. No More Buffalo. Also familiar with McMurtry. Love his storytelling song

California Girls...
Okay. Did somebody leak part of my next mix to you?
7. California. So many songs about California! I’ve never heard this one before. And I know a lot
of songs about California.
8. Palm Springs. I’m familiar with Palm Springs. I went to Palm Springs High School. I even kissed a girl in Palm Springs. Jill describes the trip to Palm Springs accurately. By the way... this is the wrong time of the year to visit Palm Springs. Nice song.
9. Going To California. Just wait till August guys. I’ll show you going to California.

Hobo’s...
10. Railroad Song. I don’t think I’ve ever heard this one before. Not a big follower of Lynyrd. But a unique cut is welcome from the much over played stuff from classic schlock radio.
11. Freeborn Man. I always liked the Outlaws. Their first two albums are great. Even though the couple of their overplayed “classics” appear on them.
12. I like Steve Forbert. He never seemed to make it big. He’s big in my music library.

10cc...
Yes! I’m with you in measured amounts about this band. Very versatile in their output.
13. Lazy Ways. Flows well from the previous Hobo theme. On purpose?
14. Not a big hit here. But that’s okay.
15. Rubber Bullets. This song was my introduction to them. It was played on AM radio here in Palm Springs... of all things. I consider this Power Pop. A good thing!

One hit...
16. Tainted Love. Back when this came out... I was reaching out to FM stations away from this valley. I’ve had it with local radio some time before that. I even put an antenna up on my parent’s house roof way before this came out to get stations from Los Angeles and San Diego. I was working on job sites using my trucks tuner and dragging speakers into the house I was working on. KROQ-FM L.A. and 91X from San Diego were the two I was listening to exclusively. They played this song to death. It was on their Top 40.
17. Who’s Behind the Door. Zebra. I don’t recall this one. I liked the pseudo psychedelic swirling. Not so much the Zeppelin screaming towards the end. Not bad.
18. Don’t Ever Want To Lose You. Not real familiar with this one either. Me kinda likey though.

Good job Mike! I liked this mix. It was very eclectic! Thanks for the time and work you put into this.

Time for some administration work. We had Scott in the June slot and Kurtster in July. It doesn't appear either are going to be contributing a mix in those months. So its more or less time to reset the lineup for the rest of 2021. If we just stick with the same order as the 1st part of the year it would shake out as follows:

July - Lazy 8
August - New Kurt
September - SirD
October - Miami
November - Miser
December - possibly Kurster X-mas mix, or a month off for the holidays.

Feedback?

ok, but only if i can do an auto-tune mix
