Hey boy, take a look at me
Let me dirty up your mind
I'll strip away your hard veneer
And see what I can find

The queerest of the queer
The strangest of the strange
The coldest of the cool
The lamest of the lame
The numbest of the dumb
I hate to see you here
You choke behind a smile
A fake behind the fear
The queerest of the queer

This is what he pays me for
I'll show you how it's done
You learn to love the pain you feel
Like father, like son

The queerest of the queer
Hide inside your head
The blindest of the blind
The deadest of the dead
You're hungry 'cause you starve
While holding back the tears
Choking on your smile
A fake behind the fear
The queerest of the queer

I know what's good for you (You can touch me if you want)
I know you're dying to (You can touch me if you want)
I know what's good for you (You can touch me if you want)
But you can't stop

The queerest of the queer
The strangest of the strange
The coldest of the cool
The lamest of the lame
The numbest of the dumb
I hate to see you here
You choke behind a smile
A fake behind the fear

The queerest of the queer
The strangest of the strange
The coldest of the cool
You're nothing special here
A fake behind the fear
The queerest of the queer

I know what's good for you
I know you're dying to
I know what's good for you
I bet you're dying to

You can touch me if you want
You can touch me if you want
You can touch me
You can touch me
But you can't stop

Hey, thanks Beavis!  I always wondered why he changed his name to William, now I know:  to hide from the FCC!

Thanks also to the snipers in this thread, without their astute observations I would never have known how crappy my musical tastes are!
I always liked this song.

"Prefab"?  You must be confusing them with someone else.
WOULD LOVE SOME L7 NOW

Did I just hear a Robert Fripp/King Crimson-style riff?

Ahh, the wit.

I'll bet the band never foresaw this clever rebuke coming.

I remember seeing this video for the first time and there was only one reason I went to go buy it the next day.  Two words - Shirley Manson

The second album was even better than the first (dare I say a classic of the 90's), and the next couple of albums after that had some good stuff.
I really think the world needs these guys to make a comeback right about now.

Took a year and half but this is coming true.
This is Garbage.

I don't know about that. I would hardly call a 10 year career a fast flame-out.

Interesting how English changes with the times.  "Queer" used to be a quite proper word to use in genteel society "Oh, yes, my dear, that fellow Professor Mesmer has some queer ideas".   Or "Hey, ya mug!  This is a queer deal!  Don Corelone ain't gonna like dis ting!  Ya gonna take the Big Sleep - this Queer ain't no good!  The treasury seals are all wrong!"  (cue sounds of Tommy Guns and brick walls).

viz:  unusual; conterfeit money, a bad or wrong thing, unorthodox.

Well, hope you have a gay time today!

They didn't flame out, the producer-members of the band just couldn't stop arguing and tweaking and twiddling in the studio. :-p

sort of like a piddling axel rose that tweaked into insanity...some days you've just got to let go of the balloons.

FYI, Shirley Manson is now part of the TV show "Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles". She plays a rather evil character, and pulls it off quite well!

Just snagged this album from my uncle, who managed to get two copies in his collection somehow.
Yeah Shirley! Great song. Also good on this album- Milk. Crush off of the Romeo & Juliet soundtrack is another good one.

one of the best albums ever. amazing tunes. and shirley....oh shirley!
Nice!
Not a bad tune on the entire album
With a band name like "Garbage" and a song entitled "Queer", do you think these guys are trying to punch our buttons?
I just looooove all of their debut album, a few killer songs on their second, but let just say that I'm waiting for their next one... Love this one !
Regardless of what you think of the song, this song is important for one reason... it brought Shirley Manson to the masses.
I LOVE this song!! I remember when it came out, I used to CRAVE it on the radio! Oh, thanks for taking me back!
:) ah yes \'95, one of their best, interesting video as well
my first major concert was Smashing Pumpkins with Garbage opening, 1997. But I can still see why Garbage was opening. It\'s not a horrible song, doesn\'t make me want to jump out the window....I\'m not that crazy. like this guy... that is not me. where are my pants....
I saw Garbage at the Roskilde festival in Denmark in June - and Shirley was just so out of it at the show. It was pretty fun to watch. She kept on raving about all sorts of things, started singing that annoying \"nananana\" Kylie Minogue song about three times, had to stop and start over on several songs. It was a great show, but I\'m guessing the other members of the band were pretty pissed of at her afterwards.
i remember hearing this song for the first time when it came out (and learning that Butch Vig was in the band) and thinking that Garbage must be a great band... they have only disappointed me since. this one is great though.
Put this garbage in the can
