I'm tired of being a fool
And my mind going from hot to cool
And trying to conform to others ideas
And someone else's rules

The life I'm living ain't mine
I'm supposed to feel that's fine
I didn't make the world I'm living in
And I ain't gonna toe the line

I'm tired of trying to be something I know ain't me
I'm tired of living up to what people expect me to be
You know some people are different
Now ain't that a crying shame
Now wouldn't be a real drag if we were all the same

And I'm not going to try to please
Eyes that just don't see
If I get myself together
You'll have the blues not me

I'm tired of trying to be something I know ain't me
I'm tired of living up to what people expect me to be
You know some people are different
Now ain't that a crying shame
Now wouldn't be a real drag if we were all the same

And I'm not going to try to please
Eyes that just don't see
If I get myself together
You'll have the blues not me

You'll have the blues not me

A touch of AWESOME!!!
This is a 10.  Kinda of an anthem for me over the years.

Saw them Christmastime 1970 in Cherry Hill, NJ

Allman Bros opened, then Savoy Brown with Van Morrison as the headliner.

After the first two, Morrison was kind of a let down.  Still an awesome show.

Coolest name for a RnR band.

Wow. Thank you RP Team!
I love the groove they achieve and the mix/production is pretty sweet!
The incomparable Chris Youlden singing.  RIP Kim Simmons, thanks for everything.

LOVE THE OLD STUFF! Don't get me wrong, I love the new stuff, too ... but good music from the 60s and 70s ... is STILL GOOD MUSIC!

Hunh...given the polarization of the world into the lefts and rights and the lack of willingness to compromise that has occurred since you wrote this...well, sad that we continue to be hearded into "camps" and have our natural inclinations be reinforced by our own echo chambers (facebot, I'm looking at you).  It's okay to be different folks...we can still be friends.
Hey, It ain't JB but it's funky!
I don't hear anything else but Savoy Brown with this song.  Got my attention at first listen when it was new.  Been an anthem for me ever since.
Love this song!
This is nice, brings back memories of Kingston Mines in Chicago.
Got that Lady Marmalade brass rift

My husband turned me on to Savoy Brown 41 years ago (omg I'm getting old) - loved them ever since.
That's the spirit we all need.
DERAM Records!  Yippee!

Early Bowie, Whiter Shade of Pale, and maybe Days of Future Passed (?)
I had to think a moment about what that intro reminds me of. It's probably Breeders - Cannonball.
A nice one from the Way Back Machine!

If Jimmy & Lenny had a little white baby....yeah, that sums it up.
A little Jimmy vibe going on!
Dat brass section
Groovy!

I believe that Proclivities is also correct about there being a UMass campus in Worcester - the medical school, if memory serves. It is true that the main campus is in Amherst however.

Thought this was an archive release of Hendrix.... pleasant surprise....

Savoy Brown. Here in the UK they ought to have a medal for services to the music industr. They supported more headline acts than anyone I can think of. Pure toon.

Follow this gem with something from Spooky Tooth II as I did in the sixties!!       {#Smile}
Ha!!!  I loved this song when I was in my 20s in the 60s, sounds good to me.

Back in the day this album was dope.

Kind of sounds like Jimi H.
This should be followed by Lili Von Stupp.

Sounds so groovy, that wicked bass and twangy guitar, perfectly interwoven by the cool yet disgruntled vocal style; just a KILLER jam!

I'm tired of living up to what people expected me to be. -- Savoy Brown

After the bars on that sax, I expect to hear

WAR! Ain't nothin' but an undertaker -- Edwin Starr

Sorry, mixing up my the melody hooks in songs...

Nice to hear SB after years without  hearing.  Anything from Streetcorner Talking would also be appreciated as would a little Capt Beefheart to go along with the yin of Tim Buckley
Great pick.  Would love to hear "Stay while the night is young" sometime.
Mmmhmm, yup stingray, way excellantay!

Happy New Year!
Very good band! XXXelent!
I miss Chris Youlden's vocals on top of this excellent English blues band!
Can I go back to those days?
Wasted late nights in Robinson dorm with a wild assortment of Bogarts.  Savoy Brown still sounds good, though.
Oh Yeah! The beginning of that was sampled in Transglobal Undergrounds "International times" album!
Just caught the end of this beauty......Damn...
Just finished teaching "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and this song reminds me of the scene with old Pete: "I said I'm TIRED! Awful tired!" This could be Pete's theme song.
OUTSTANDING!!!              {#Bananapiano}
Great rhythm!!!!
Such a groovy find!!!

This is SAVOY BROWN...?

Sounds sooo modern and fresh!

WONDERFUL!!!

PS

BLACK KEYS someone?

This is a funky song, very cool, but I don't think it sounds like Hendrix at all.

Oh man that opening riff on the left channel. I gotta learn the tabs to that!
Saw them way back in the 70's with Manfred Mann opening. Great show, no horns just guitar band and guitar playing. Hellbound Train was a highlight
I love Chris Youlden on vocals for SB.

WOW. I was uneducated on Savoy Brown. That was great relief and company in the misery of the heat. Thanks RP!
