Lyrics:

Looked in my laptop what did I see
A flashing message said today therapy
Rather walk through fire
Than converse with my shrink
But I'm getting better
That's what some people think

Talk about denial
And dysfunctional things
Head's like a bell somedays
It dongs and it dings
My brain playing tricks on me
It likes to shift gears
Spend lots of money
But I'm tackling my fears

Vampires, mummies and the holy ghost
These are the things that terrify me the most
No aliens, psychopaths or MTV hosts
Scares me like vampires, mummies and the holy ghost

Had a dream last night
Took a time traveling ride
Back to my childhood
Where those monsters reside
They snack on innocence
And dine on self-esteem
But I like to be in touch with what makes me scream

Vampires, mummies and the holy ghost
These are the things that terrify me the most
No aliens, psychopaths or MTV hosts
Scares me like vampires, mummies and the holy ghost

I was never ever frightened
By the murderer on our block
He nurtured orchids and raised hamsters
The neighborhood is still in shock
La, la, la, la, la

So many dragons lurking out in the fog
So many crazy people mumblin' monologues
It's not the tales of Stephen King that I've read
I need protection from the things in my head

Vampires, mummies and the holy ghost
These are the things that terrify me the most
No aliens, psychopaths or MTV hosts
Scares me like vampires, mummies and the holy ghost
Damn straight when it comes to Jimmy Buffett... ugh... ahoylola wrote:
whoa. that is one pitifully close-minded remark. i'm not a parrothead, btw.
Ooooohhh a bunch of drunken, wacky, nutty 50 somethings and 40 somethings dressed in Hawaiian shirts making idiots of themselves getting ripped. Yippee. How kooky. Yep,that sounds like "fun" to me netstv wrote:
Oh please... how many Parrotheads do you really know? It's about going to a big party, drinking a ton and having a good night out dancing. If that's not what you like, why live?

Oh COME ON. This song isn't THAT bad. Definitely not a 3.5!
..yes it is...and the rating is plummetting as I speak

You're right. I just rated it a 1. Now it's a 3.3, which is closer to the truth.

I'm glad they only play this once a year.

HA HA HA! I never thought I'd hear THIS song on RP. This album is actually very fun, it has gotten a lot of spins in my CD player over the years.
Indeed, not the best song from the album ....
Masterpiece. If only I could give it a 12.

What scares me is just how awful this song is. While I'm sure some parrotheads will get on and say how wonderful it is, I'm sure even they have to admit this is far from Jimmy's best.
This was recorded long after Buffett had become a true parody of what made him so good in the first place. I can listen to anything before, maybe Coconut Telegraph all day long, but stuff like this is really really terrible.
WORST ending EVER!!!!!
All parrotheads should be de-feathered.
This song is weird but it made me laugh.

You gotta give Buffett credit - he has made an eensy-weensy bit of talent go a LOOOOOONG way.

Jimmy Buffett is scary indeed.
sheesh, he has his camp moments, but he's never claimed to be anything other than fun time music. And a lot of his more recent stuff (bannana wind, and beach house on the moon) have some really excelent songs that defy the buffet mold.
3.6 - sounds about right.
I love how all Jimmy Buffett makes me crave Tequila!!
Just not a Buffet fan. Been to a concert before, and just did not understand the Parrot-head thing. Certainly did not expect to find it here....and this is worse than most of his other drivel.
