What kind of fool would name their mediocre band after a great movie?

"Mediocre" and "great" are obviously matters of opinion (though I agree with you about that film), but there are several bands who share their names with films that I can think of:
Black Sabbath, They Might Be Giants, Alphaville, My Bloody Valentine, The Damned, The Misfits, etc.

It was their thrid album that mentioned on the linear notes that Gilmour guested on one song, I seem to remember.

Thanks! noyou, for this upload. I have loved this group since first hearing "Scarlet and Other Stories" back in '91 but, unfortunately, do not own any of their CD's and was unable to provide any uploads. It is next to impossible to find their CD's here in the US. I would love to hear "Martha's harbor or "Witches Promise" (Jethro Tull cover) if you or anyone could get them uploaded.
I find this a "normal radio sond"
wow, this is quite painfully bad.
Hardly. She does have a beautiful voice - I like it. Kinda haunting in a good way.
Yuck. Schmaltz!
wow, this is quite painfully bad. sounds like it belongs on some straight-to-video b-grade love story soundtrack from the 80s.
I am totally blown away! No James Bond feel to the albums, that's for sure. And how could this group be boring with Marty Willson-Piper (the Church), a Sisters of Mercy bandmember and a couple of uncredited appearances by David Gilmour on an earlier album (this was rumored)?! Winter Words is a decent collection of most of their "hits" (not in the US, of course) with some rareties that are listenable, although not all versions are the original and some winners are omitted in the tradition of most compilations (it's a very long LP as I recall - you get your money's worth if you are looking for an overview). Scarlet may be the most interesting LP. Thanks for the upload - this was a group I had asked to hear previously.
Sounds like a James Bond -esque song. Kind of meandering and boring. It needs some partial nudity or explosions and fire to be complete.
