I was 18, and living in Amsterdam unsupervised this is what I heard....
Always a lovely surprise when this comes on, thank you RP!
During the corona what -is-your-10-such-and-such-list-craze the 1983 Doe Maar album '4US' (which sounds like virus in Dutch... ;) ) was very well received by some English friends of mine who'd never heard of the band but instantly loved their ska-reggae-punk-nederpop sound - both Skunk and 4US are worth checking out if you like this particular tune

Good guitar work
Oh my, Doe Maar on RP! I am stunned and delighted. Hello Dutch adolescence, it's been a while.
yeah….No. Not my kind of groove.
But for those of you which it is: have at it! ☮️

What a surprise, Doe Maar, on Radio Paradise!!
Never heart this instrumental version, I can imagine that because the Dutch spoken songs should sound strange.
A band with history, glory days in the mid 80's but still active. I know the guys.

Please try other stuff of Doe Maar on RP... A lot of Dutch listeners will appreciate it!
What a surprise! How does RP knows about this album?
Holy Cow! Grew up in Holland in the 70's haven't heard this since1
The 'oe' in Doe Maar is pronounced like the 'Oo' in 'Oof'. But A for effort Bill! ;)
For all native English speakers: it's pronounced "Do Mar"

Close enough for Flag Oscar I'd say. If this album went overboard, I'd forego the Williamson turn and keep my course.

Doe Maar on RP? Wow
Greetings from the Netherlands.
Greetings from the Netherlands.
And Bill, the band's name is pronounced doo-mahr, not doh-way-mahr.
Insofar as Dutch ska punk (aka skunk) approximates surf (punk) rock, it also rules!
Sounds a little like the police.

I actually quite liked the album, but it was a far cry from Sweet Baby James, which I think was kind of the point.

Good memories from a great Dutch band that ended their career much too early. When I was 12, for me Henny Vrienten (bass/vocals) was the summit of cool.
Too bad all the lyrics are in Dutch, I guess Bill would play more of their songs otherwise. Solid 9.

I remember when I lived in the Netherlands in the year 80's, I didn't know much about "Doe Maar", until I heard a lot about them when the band broke up.
"Doe maar...."
"Doe maar? ... Doe maar is uit elkaar"
Dutch people will probably get it ;)

One of the best dutch bands, luckily this instrumental musical gem, hopefully pleases the international RP listeners.
Nice to hear my favorite dutch band of all times on my favorite radio station!

Pleasantly surprised to hear Doe Maar on Radio Paradise - great band, great song with very good bassline.

Why the "Skunk" title under the no-cover cover? A bit surrealist, belli donni (Bill and Rebecca)
Editing : Oh...I understand. Clicking on the title instead of clicking on the Album's name. Doing this just leads to Amazon page, doing that explains it all.
Well, I'll have to give it a second chance. Not convinced by the first listening

I'm going to see them playing in Fall this year, although I never was a fan in the '80s. Now I like them for the sake of old times ;-)
Just to late to hear Doe Maar.
Famous Dutch group in the 80th.
Really surprising.
Wow, I can´t believe you have this on your playlist. That´s quiet obscure. Great song. Thanks fort playing this!

"doe maar" is a typical Dutch expression for which there is no real good English translation. "doe" means "do" and "maar" can mean "whatever". If somebody suggests they will do something and you don't really mind you would say "doe maar" as a motivation without getting personally involved. It's a great name a for a ska band from the early punk era.
I dig this song, so I went to Google Translate to see if "Doe Maar" had an English translation. If you type "Doe maar", you get "Do it" which sounds reasonable. But if you type "Doe Maar", you get "Neil Young"! I think somebody's playing with my brain.

The album title is a portmanteau of ska and punk, not the smelly animal.
But also a reference to a type of cannabis. The album even includes a brilliant hommage to Dutch weed (Nederwiet).
