And talk about the weather
But traditions I can trace against
The child in your face
Won't escape my attention
You keep your distance with a system of touch
And gentle persuasion
I'm lost in admiration, could I need you this much?
Oh, you're wasting my time
You're just, just, just wasting time
Something happens and I'm head over heels
I never find out
'Til I'm head over heels
Something happens and I'm head over heels
Ah, don't take my heart, don't break my heart
Don't, don't, don't throw it away
Throw it away
Throw it away
I made a fire, I'm watching it burn
Yeah, thought of your future
With one foot in the past, now, just how long will it last?
Now, now, now, have you no ambitions? (Mmm, what's the matter with my)
My mother and my brothers used to breathe in clean air
(Nothing ever changes when you're acting your age)
And dreaming I'm a doctor
(Nothing gets done when you feel like a baby)
It's hard to be a man when there's a gun in your hand
(Nothing ever changes when you're acting your age)
Oh, I feel so
Something happens and I'm head over heels
I never find out
'Til I'm head over heels
Something happens and I'm head over heels
Ah, don't take my heart, don't break my heart
Don't, don't, don't throw it away
And this is my four-leaf clover
I'm on the line, one open mind
This is my four-leaf clover

''Funny how time flies''
The whole album is great. One of the few you can listen from start to finish. No filler in this one.
I Agree! ...very well recorded, it is even better in FLAC with great equipment! Thanx RP

DJ Bill Goldsmith made a live intro to this song. Or was it pre-recorded and connected to the track by algorithm? I'm so confused.
that would be live, the only algorithm used is Bill and Rebecca's awesomeness
I'm not sure you get to decide what "we" really need.
You got that right!
You're welcome.

Agreed. This belongs to top 40 Radio.
Great comment.
No need to hear it again.
Maybe it feels dated because it's 34 yrs old. Still a great tune to these ears, and one I haven't heard in years.
Funny how time flies.
Thank you. And this feels SO dated. Yuk.

Feels like the Hip are getting more play these days but this is just a nicely flowing little set. And I'm sure it's not a purposeful thread but 2 Canadian bands + a song whose video was filmed at the University of Toronto, so I'll pretend it was on purpose anyway.

Fortunately, you don't get to make that decision. Besides, "commercial" and "eclectic" are not mutually exclusive.

1985 - I believe you mean a few decades back.
Some people just can't let it go.

I know most people think of TFF as an '80s band, but I've seen them live a few times in the last decade and they really are fantastic. Also, for anyone who didn't hear their 2004 "reunion" album, Everybody Loves A Happy Ending, I'd argue that it's the best of their career. They are touring again this summer and I believe they're slowly working on a new album as well.

I need to check if my support renewal date is near.
I agree wholeheartedly. On both counts.
Long live ABBA!
True but listening and commenting beats the hell out of doing what I should be...working.
I am constantly awed by how music has the power to transform us from our present state and activity to another time. And to do so without conscious action on our part. And to do so regardless of whether or not the song is a favorite. I am not a big Tears to Fears fan, but still find this song as one of those that can bring back involuntarily memories of another time and place (and Universe, it seems).
Absolutely.
And... let's follow with "Hand Cannot Erase". Nice Bill, given SW's intent to remaster this album.

That's a stupid, juvenile comment....
thank you, it's always an honor to be recognized by one's peers

and I love this song too

Ditto. The lyrics practically tell the plot of the movie too.
Me too. Funny thing is that DD was supposed to be nostalgic about this 80s music, but now this music makes me nostalgic about the 80's world of DD instead of to the real 80s :)
Absolutely.
The fact that you include any Bob Dylan album as being relevant in the 1980s, to me, discounts your theory that Tears For Fears was not relevant. I do agree with the other artists selected though.
I'm sorry: not even the Hope Diamond would improve that view.
Ha! Indeed. Great album, and "Head Over Heels" is its best track.

Me too.

The 80s was a musical decade worth forgetting, but i luv this song.

The 80's marked the pinnacle of corporate music. With a few notable exceptions, it was just so much mass produced synth-pop.

Great, super-melodic tune. Yes, it's been played on radio a ton but the song is too good not to play.

No. They had a place. Some really great tunes from these guys and all of them were "typically" TFF.

Agreed!
It was good, but The Hurting was WAY better, IMHO.

What, no Mad World? An honest mistake.

last words audible.
me too they were some talented boys
I was in Denver. Definitely a living vacation.
Agreed, despite many comments to the contrary. Does certainly evoke specific memories, but they aren't necessarily bad.

Thank goodness musically there is no other time like this period when this brand of pop/rock music dominated the radio in the 80's. Don't get me wrong I really dug this song and this album, but this clearly has that unmistakable 80's pop stamp on it and is clearly of its time and not timeless IMHO.
Like - for example - the next tune now playing - from 1967 but it could have been from any era - Velvet Undergound - There She Goes Again.

Yeah. Bad ones, I'm afraid.

same. i wonder if we're of the same generation!

Cutting off this song after the "time flies..." part at the end is almost as bad as cutting off We Will Rock You before We Are The Champions.
