It's getting late
I think my time is running out
No-one special
Nothing lasting within inside

How should I stay calm
When panic lies just ahead
Everyone can see my youth
Hanging by a thread

No subtle men
Came to my town
No subtle men
Begging for my hand

I'm one of few who's left
When everyone has gone
The train is leaving
And it's too late to get on

So much for running
When no-one stays to wait
For another broken promise
To slip my mind by mistake

Who would take my word
On anything these days
I failed so many times
Saying I'm gonna change

No subtle men
Came to my town
No subtle men
No lifelong friend
Lives in my town
No subtle men
Begging for my hand

I can't unhear this now
I'd have been her subtle man.. If I ever came to her town.  Oh wait, maybe that's the point.  Her town was too far away.

Pfft.  People need to stop reproducing anyway.

You like the TV do ya?

It's likely the subtle men were there, but were too subtle and she simply didn't notice them. Such is the curse of both men and women.

From your personal collection of double chin photographs?

Because you're wearing it?
Along with your favourite pink panties.

Nice song, btw.

must be her Viking past.
Wow, this is one of those RP classics that just touched me deeply, so poignant, so touching, bumped from an 8 to a 9 and might even push through to my sacred list of 10's!!
There is something magical about her. Her music is always arresting, and often beautiful.
Watching the YouTube video and reading the lyrics here brought this to a whole new level for me. I don't think beautiful song applies directly to me, but I can think of some siblings it could.

Susanne Sundfor has a similar Scandanavian pronunciation only she is Norwegian. I think they learn their English from American TV programs and popular culture or else they have a shibboleth for certain words.

A bit like if you want to know if somebody is from the North or South of Ireland - in the South they say tree instead of three.  Same if you want to find out if somebody is from New Zealand or Australia... ask them to say Fish and Chips and a New Zealander will say "Fush and Chups" whereas Australians will say "Feesh and Cheeps".

So there you have it folks - the word for today is.. shibboleth. Wikipedia gives a really interesting and sinister story behind this word.

Anna has such a beautiful voice. Smooth and delightful. More please!
Finally read the title and discovered that she wasn't singing "No sodding man" after all.

Much better now.
I like this girl {#Daisy}
Feel free to play this more often ;-)

I think she sounds more like Suzanne Vega than NM in this song, but mostly she sounds more like Anna Ternheim...{#Propeller}

Even though I've recently been to Sweden, I picked up very little of the lingo on account of those blasted Vikings speaking English so well. However, I think I can figure out your phrase, and I couldn't agree more - Anna is so, so good. 9 from the smitten Scandophile Nottingham jury {#Hearteyes}

I love this....can so relate!

She sounds a bit like Sinead Lohan.

There is a lot of string squeak, but somehow this adds to the intimacy IMO.
Good.

Why is it that a beautiful song like this elicits such division between countries? There are times when I listen to lyrics and feel passionately. I stew and fret and get angry. But sometimes, I just listen to the music, and close my eyes and fall into it and absorb the beauty of the melody. Maybe I pick my time and place to get radical and pissed-off. This place is, to me, a place for appreciation of music, and not a place to air political diatribes or personal vendettas.

Fire bad.  Tree pretty.

What do you have against fire, bitch? Just kidding! Love this song. And I have been subtle on occasion, though just as likely to jump in with  all the finesse of incoming space junk.

Very pretty

Anna Ternheim sings Strangers In The Night, (by Francis Albert "Frank" Sinatra)....a personal and intimate version, impressive.

Anna Ternheim - No Subtle Men, Live (2006)

Musikjournalen Live, 2006-09-13.

I really like this song, but it suffers due to the string squeak.  No matter what, that noise always sounds like a poorly played guitar to me.

Not exactly a subtle man, are you?

6 < 7 this is growing on me and i like it more each time i hear it.
i hear a little dido in there somewhere in this song, but either way it is a very good song. i dig her.
Love
One of my favorites.....
What an absolutely heartbreaking song
SWEET + LOVELY!
Just for your information: this track was rated as "10" be me as I believe it is actually quite beautiful (and sad and all that)

Looks better on her than Kid Rock.  Who gives a rip anyway??

The song and her voice are great.  8
Very nice song, but I had to check the title...

I thought she was singing: "No sodom man comes to my town"... Not quite the meaning she was aiming for...

What a smelly opinion.  This rules as does Natalie and for the record there is very very little comparison between them besides being female singers.  Not the first Anna Ternheim track i've liked my wallet is starting to clench again.

Economy of Sweden

GDP growth -4.6% (2009 est.)
Unemployment 9.1% (January 2010)

I am sure the polar bears appreciate it though

This, just few songs after "None of us Are Free" by Solomon Nurke... it's amazing and totally appropriate!!
She's pretty good at minimal treatments.

My favorite track on this recently purchased CD.  Excellent Anna
How is this song not perfect? I LOVE Anna. Seen her twice and spoke with her. Very sweet, and all about the music.

her voice touch..... -

She "sounds" much older
Perfect for my state of mind right now.
This is really beautiful.
Edited 18-sep.   Uprated to a 10.   This song is just magical.
First time I'd heard this song or anything by her.  That's one of the things I like about RP — the chance to hear new music that others don't really play much.  I agree with most of the comments about this one.
Quietly lovely - very good indeed.
Great performance of this song by Anna Ternheim (click here)
