I remember when this came out amongst a ton of fanfare.  Released on MTV off I remember correctly, and I watched that first public play.  It was pretty mind blowing at the time, and of course came bundled with that awesome Vincent Price “Thriller” video.

I would agree with you if it was a FOR SURE thing that he did molest kids.  I for one don't believe he did.  At least not like it was reported.  Do a bit of reading about the accusers, hell they're the ones that should be in trouble.  They "heard" about their kids being molested by MJ and what was the first thing they did?  CALL A LAWYER!  Not me, if I heard this from my kid's mouth, it would have been cops first. 

Play MJ's music and forget about the terrible tabloid stuff...and think about all that he did good for kids...sick kids, dying kids, poor kids...and believe less from those who were out to get him and his money.

Billie Jean was not his lover. Unfortunately for little Billy though, he was. I feel like whether the music is good or not, when someone is a documented (if not convicted) pedophile then they should be taken out of rotation. I know that a lot of great music has been made by less than savoury characters, but it takes a special kind of freak to ply young boys with alcohol and fondle their genitalia. This has nothing to do with music elitists. It has to do with what he was. Personally, I am glad he is gone. Wish I do tolerate any of his music.

I kinda feel RP is a little shy towards R&B, Soul, and Dance music.  As eclectic as Bill's mix is, I think it could use a smidge more of the aforementioned genres.  i mean (as of 11/03/2014) 221 votes with an average rating of 7.7 and RP hasn't played this song in over a year?

Michael Jackson in general may not appeal to most RP listeners, who I think would prefer to veer away from pop music (and that's why we listen to RP and not to the pop stations on FM), but MJ has got a few works with Quincy Jones that are truly catchy masterpieces even if they are in the pop music genre.

They deserve the occasional play in Bill's eclectic mix, and I welcome it. Very enjoyable to hear this thrown in the mix.

The whole point of RP is to provide variety. If you have a problem with this, then why are you here? Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out iTuner.

Quincy Jones, genius, world famous musician/composer/arranger/producer held Michael in the highest respect musically and personally - "Our souls were joined, you know."  That's enough for me.  I really enjoyed and still enjoy the music of MJ too.  Thanks RP.  Looking forward to hearing "Beat it", "Thriller" and "Rock with you" pop up in the future.  Only 4 in the library Bill?! {#Good-vibes}

Have to admit, it jammed, and still does...the dude could throw down and dance a mean-assed beat, and sing like a freakin' bird, too!  I remember when he was for a good long while considered the coolest dude on the planet.  I also recall that when he was just a little kid, not much older than my friends and I were, how he already had it all, from the days he sang Got To Be There and Rockin' Robin — some kids in my 3rd Grade class danced to it on stage, I can never forget — to his own (The Jackson 5ive!) TV show, through when he was the Richest Guy in the World with The Number-One-Selling-Album of All-Time, and wow, remember that wacky Thriller music video (that you can still see almost weekly in the bars in Tokyo), and hell, we loved it all, even secretly sometimes as was necessary, till, well, till he got really weird.  As far as sheer artistry goes, let it be said that Michael Jackson sure did put on one hell of a show!

This is one of those songs that I really feel like, if you can't appreciate it for its brilliance on its own terms, you're letting your opinion of the artist or genre bias you in a way that's shutting you off from some of the wonderful things in life.

Despite the ridiculous photo on the cover of this album, MJ was straight gangsta when this came out. Rock n' Roll it ain't, but it's close enough.

And if you wanna talk great artist/producer collaborations of all time...Quincy and MJ? Fuhgeddaboutit.

His personal issues, his life outside of the music he created, aside.
I never liked his music, because I thought the music was not very good.
I felt like the hype and marketing, the ego and salesmanship associated with everything he did far eclipsed any actual musical talent he displayed. When just listening to what he did, musically, it does not appeal to me on any level. Go fig.

In terms of artistic accomplishment this recording had it all when it came out and that is how it should be remembered. Whatever Michael did later with his life, this album was still fantastic.
