She was driving through the night
through that fortune road of fame
She was looking for the man
just to powder up the pain
And the power of the Sun
never caught her weary sand
She was looking for the man
with the gun in the hat
Drinking whiskey in the rain
and the bible in his hand
Shake the light
Drown the sun
Close the shades
Lock the door
Burn the pages of your life
As your body hits the floor
And as you weep you can hear it
There's an echo of a call
And through the violent bloody night
Nehemiah builds the wall
I was living off the land
trying to get the job done
I was looking for the souls
that were burning in the sun
She was burning up the crowd
and was landing on time
I said crooked is the man
who reveals in a verse
There a prophet of the land
When there's poison in your mind
Shake the light
Drown the sun
Close the shades
Lock the door
Burn the pages of your life
As your body hits the floor
And as you weep you can hear it
There's an echo of a call
And through the violent
Bloody night
Nehemiah builds a wall
Yesterday's gone
Tomorrow an illusion
Infinity
I am fire, I am gold
I am river, I am sea
I'm eternally the sound
That is screaming to be free
Shake the light
Drown the sun
Close the shades
Lock the door
Burn the pages of your life
As your body hits the floor
And as you weep you can hear it
There's an echo of a call

Should this song be Trump's election soundtrack... :)
Oh well, turns out heaven has boundaries.... Alt-J then Depeche Mode followed by Muse followed by Radiohead.... and then we get this?
NMCOT*
*Not my cup of tea
'Burlap to Cashmere'? More like 'Sackcloth to Pigs Ear'

Not even if I was drunk.
Bet it would be a great live tune. Sorry, I like it.
deja vu (as we speak)... so much better to choose from in the library and this tune? Doesn't work for me..
12:28 Muse — Uprising
12:33 Radiohead — Staircase
12:38 This
All in all, one of the worst 15 minute stretches of RP I've ever had to endure. I just keep listening because I know that one of the best 15-minute stretches of RP I've ever been blessed to experience will no doubt be coming along very soon. RP is like that.

JM volunteered his drummer and the engineer who mixes the drums annoyingly high and so prominently...to make the sound complete.Sincerest form of flattery and all that.

House of Freaks but not quite as good
sounds too much like second-rate INXS for me...
A rare two forgettable songs in a row. But I see how this one kinda goes with Waiting for the Sun. Fortunately I know it will all end soon.
John Mellencamp called...oh, never mind.
Too frantic, too breathless for my tastes.

I thought it was a young Neil Diamond at first...

I'd been fully annoyed by this song at least 5 times, but I guess I didn't turn it up loud enough or something. I think I get it now. Still a bit repetitive, and the "hey hey" is a bit grating, but not bad. 4 -> 6
I like it, its got a good beat and you can dance to it:)

Energetic and driving. I like this!
This is one of those that becomes more compelling the more times you hear it.

This fully freakin rocks. While being very musically different the pace and rythm of the song is reminding me of both The Tea Party's Edges of Twilight album and Live's Throwing copper. Regardless of why it reminds me of stuff it sounds little like I bloody love it.
I was going to rate this song a 5, but bumping it up to a 6 for the pure excellence of the comments here. (still giggling about the Cossack dance)
I just moved this to a 6 from a 5........
Just updated this to a 10.
Credits Richie Havens as one of his "early influences"— we actually started singining "Freedom" during the intro...

I should learn to skip songs that make people do a Cossack dance.

Perhaps you're analyzing it too much.
At first listen the "HEY HEY HEY HEY...." and generic pentatonic melody had me rating this a 4. Actually the HEYs probably didn't ruin it, I'm not totally against some yelling in a song, nor repetition for that matter.
The last couple of times I heard it, I gave it my best try, but frankly it's more repetitive and boring than I thought. It has NO chord progression! Maybe the lyrics have something to them but I haven't really paid attention to them yet.
I don't consider myself very picky outside of the realm of pop, but I might have to go down to 2 on this one.

That, my friends, is not a song.
That's an anthem!

Bumping this to 9 - and doing a Cossack dance to the "Hey! Hey! Hey!" part of the song. (I think I sprained something.)

Actually, they don't sing about Jesus on this album. A couple of spiritual themes, but then so does Paul Simon, Mumford & Sons and lots of others. Unique, interesting music and lyrics. They haven't had a record out since 1998 so give them a break.

Awesome tune and a great album. American Songwriter just did a review calling it one of the best records of 2011. Thanks for adding it.

When this first started playing, I thought it was a new song from the band Live.
