Tall is the mountain
And deep is the sea
Tall is the mountain
And deep is the sea
Tall is the mountain
And deep is the sea
I don't feel
The spirit walks with me

Dark is the forest
And bitter are the trees
Dark is the forest
And bitter are the trees
Dark is the forest
And bitter are the trees
I don't feel
The spirit walks with me

Walk with me now
Walk with me
Walk with me now
Walk with me
Walk with me now
Walk with me

The stars in the heaven
Will light away the sea
The stars in the heaven
Will light away the sea
The stars in the heaven
Will light away the sea
So I don't feel
The spirit walks with me

Oh and I wonder
If someday we'll be free
Oh yeah I wonder
If someday we'll be free
He-yeah I wonder
If someday we'll be free
But I don't feel
The spirit walks with me

The spirit walks with me
The spirit walks with me
I don't feel
The spirit walks with me

Wow.  I hear Joan Osborne, and that's not a bad thing.....

I heard some Bonnie Raitt but Joan Osborne is closer ... dig it.

I was going to say Grandma's Hands, but yeah also this.

Pretty sure the lyrics should be "I don't fear" instead of "I don't feel."  As in she isn't in fear of the potentially scary things because the Spirit is with her.  Which is good news.

You had me actively listen and I believe you are right - an important clarification.
Interesting that her profile picture shows her with a guitar, as (in my opinion) she's a much better pianist.  Here she is playing one of her best songs Idaho.

Boring and stole the tune.
Lovely to see the incredibly talented Ms Pallot on here.  I have all her albums - this song would not be in my personal top 10, but I'm very happy to hear it.

Happy Birthday!

No doubt
Is there a reason this album cover is nearly the same as the Mandalay: Empathy cover? Some connection here? And the last song has an album cover that was nearly exactly the same as a ska album? Is Bill getting more subtle in his connections? Soon it may be that singers have the same middle initial on sequential songs!

I confess--I'm a sucker for altos. 7 just for her voice.

Sam Phillips, Alannah Myles, very different voices but really get to me.

Did the verse "Stars and Heaven" have a startling overlay of sound?

Yes. I noticed it on 2nd hear.
Keyboard (not acoustic) descending only on the 2nd or 3rd time of that verse.
Jake: Oh yes, and it's brilliant. 8 going to 9.
