Building on the success of his debut album, The Sorcerer, released in 2022, Franco-American jazz pianist Tom Sochas is back with his second offering Facing North, on Khumbu Records. The album releases March 28th 2025 and introduces Tom’s new trio with Greek bassist Thodoris Ziarkas and Italian drummer Filippo Galli.

“A love letter to the mountains and a hope for a brighter future for both climbers and the mountains' social and natural ecosystems. I wanted to explore the sonic possibilities that came from spending time amongst them, but also shine a light on matters that I hold dear to my heart, such as the effects of climate change on mountains and the on-going inequalities and injustices on local populations created by high altitude mountaineering in the Himalaya.”
