Ay candela, candela, candela, me quemo aé.
bien placentero:
¡Y ahora si quieren bailar, búsquense
otro timbalero!
Ay candela, candela, candela, me quemó aé.
Oye, Faustino Orama' y sus compañeros,
necesito que me apaguen el fuego.
Margarita llama pronto a los bomberos para
que vengan a apagar el fuego.
Oye, si estás perdida llama a los siete ceros,
y asi vendrán más pronto los bomberos.
Ay candela, candela, candela, me quemo aé,
mama ¡Aaaay!
Tilán tilán
Didilán didilán
Margarita que me quemo
Yo quiero seguir gozando
La candelame está llevando
Me gusta seguir guarachando
me quemo, me quemo.
Mira que me quemo, oye, yo quiero
seguir guarachando.
Mira mama que yo vengo quemando.
Faustino Orama' tú está acabando
Mira se quema, se quema
Pero mira mi mami se quema
Oye se quema, se quema
The Musical produced by Atlantic Theater in NYC this year was
fantastic! I'm reasonably certain it will transfer to Broadway soon.
Seeing the music performed live was worth the ticket alone, but it's so
much more. I work in the theatre industry and this is a must see. It
closes at the end of January '24 and is totally sold out. but keep your
eyes open for the transfer.
I love Cuba: I have been there 6 times.
It is so non-materialistic and non-commercial.
No billboards or advertising of any kind.
If you want to find a restaurant in a town,
don't look for a sign, ask a local.
I was in the bar that created the mojito in the town of
Trinidad. I pity Americans, most of whom cannot go there.
Cuba is a paradise.
If "nobody has anything" is non-materialistic, then yeah. Wonder why every Cuban (aside from those at the top) wants to get out of "paradise."
Took my 88 year old dad to a clinic appointment and he came out talking about how the place was full of "old people". I pointed out that at 88 he qualifies as an old person and he was probably a decade older than most people at the clinic. "Yeah, but they act old!" was his response.
My 84 year old mom joined a dating site and complained that it kept matching her with "old men." She finally found a 50-year-old man, no thanks to the site. (She told him she's 64.)
This is now officially in my best classics folder.
do we have a boogaloo expert somewhere in the world to answer this question?
This is how you cowbell.
Yes!! Cowbell with sophistication & style!!
It practically shimmers, but so much life and grit and texture and soul. So so good.

Too funny! And, Too true!
The move is 'Buena Vista Social Club'.
I love the line where they're driving around looking for where the club was, Compay in the back seat, and Compay, 80-some years old then, says "We need to find an old person, they'll remember. Where are the old people?" Never occurred to him that HE was an old person!
I was fortunate enough to see them on one of their first tours. Just incredible.

I hear some kind of an accent in your post

He was saying it tongue in cheek, fully aware.

Yeah, we should have never relaxed the restrictions so that Cuba could remain the worker's paradise that it is.
Workers' paradise? We (USA) don't offer one either. But don't get me started.
Back to the music!

Hell Yes!!
Yes!
Cooder went to Cuba and gathered all these old Cuban Jazz musicians to jam
with, eventually putting them on tour in the US (including Carnegie Hall) leading to this album and fame. Buena Vista Social Club was the place where they met to Jam while in Cuba, eventually becoming the band's name.
A very nice documentary.

All of a sudden, I want to go to Cuba !!!!
In 1998 I went exclusively because of this album. Best trip of my life, and the music is even better there!

Snake hips. HA HA HA :)

You sure managed to type a lot of whine while your brain was melting down. Check out that PSD button on the homepage some time.
Well spoken. A solid 9 from here.
Hmmm. That or the vagaries of taste. Depending on how inflated one's own ego might be.
Yeah, you see so much here the attitude "you don't like the music I do, ergo you must suck."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buena_Vista_Social_Club_(film)
Hence, my "3" rating. I like it at first, but as you observed…
Sorry, nothing cheesy about this for me.
same thing here)))

Heard this many times on Radio Paradise and have always loved it.
Hadn't realised the lyrics were so raunchy - first half is all metaphors, 2nd half well watch the subtitles from 4.33 ...
Put out the fire! This song is hot, hot, hot!!!!!!
Ditto, not a bad track in the whole thing
Copied off of a lyrics Website—no idea how accurate this is.

A good attitude to take.
Yeah usually it's the musically illiterate that can't get the complexity and value of music like this.
It really is.
To somewhere I can't hear this....
Which is something you would want when you are dancing it with a hottie...
excellent point
Not while Peter Gabriel's alive, he's not.
Whether you like Gabriel or not and admittedly I don't, I have never heard anyone ever claim something like that. I know it is just my opinion, but eclectic is not what comes in mind when I hear Gabriel. He fits is little slow, ambient adult contemporary niche which is fine but not particularly adventurous.
